About The Position

Under the general direction of the Director of Public Safety Operations and Administration, the Manager of Public Safety Business & Finance Operations administers and coordinates assigned financial, administrative, and business-service functions for the Public Safety unit. The position implements established priorities and procedures; coordinates budget monitoring, procurement, payroll, travel, personnel transactions, compliance documentation, and reporting activities; directly supervises assigned administrative or financial support staff; and resolves routine operational matters within delegated authority. The incumbent prepares analyses and recommendations for the Director and elevates matters involving significant financial, policy, legal, personnel, or institutional impact.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration, public finance, budgeting, accounting, procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and administer complex financial and administrative activities within a highly regulated and compliance-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or formal lead-work skills, including the ability to establish priorities, assign and review work, provide training and feedback, evaluate performance, and support employee development.
  • Ability to analyze financial, operational, and statistical information; identify trends, risks, and problems; evaluate alternatives; and develop sound findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to review financial transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, appropriate funding and chartfield use, and compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration, public administration, finance, accounting, management, or a related field, AND three years of progressively responsible experience in financial administration, budgeting, accounting, procurement, contract administration, or business operations.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one by the date of hire.
