Responsible for the staffing and administration of a nursing unit or floor. Ensures departmental compliance with regulatory and The Joint Commission requirements. Assists with the hiring, training, directing, development, and evaluating of nursing staff. Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit. Develops and implements policies and procedures to insure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit. Monitors and adheres to annual hospital operating budget. Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases, and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines. Support shared governance to engage all nurses in decision-making and problem-solving. Empower all nurses to lead and take an active role in decision-making using the shared governance process. Mentor/coach NUPIC chair to promote shared governance.
