About The Position

As a Manager of Modal Performance, you will be responsible for contributing to North America transportation strategy for our Redwood SCS Managed solution and the successful execution of that strategy. The role focuses on Core vendor performance KPI’s, Vendor data integrity and Scorecarding, vendor QBR’s, Vendor Management Strategy, Core Strategic Account Support, Strategic Network Management, Performance improvement strategy, and Modal service delivery.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of combined experience in carrier Procurement and Logistics/Operations
  • Solid understanding of transportation Carrier/Service Providers contracts, all modes, transit time, and networks
  • Understanding of mode rate structures (such as Air, TL, LTL, Parcel and International)
  • Understand the FP&A Audit Process and Payment Process to Vendors
  • Understand reporting trends and translate into verbal direction to impact results
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Availability to travel 5-10% of the time
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment; consult with team members and management as needed
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills with ability to multitask
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, working knowledge of Tableau
  • Familiar with any TMS platform (Mercury Gate and Oracle Transportation Management) as well as DAT-TransCore, PC Miler, Rand McNally, Tableau Reporting, Triumph Pay, EDI integration, MacroPoint, Salesforce, Jaeggar RFP Tool

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing the North America Procurement solution delivery for TL, LTL, Intermodal, Parcel and Air freight
  • Responsible for establishing vendor KPI’s and developing processes to capture key data points, including On-Time service, Tender Acceptance, Spot Engagement, and Tender Givebacks
  • Manage operational escalations related to vendor service and performance
  • Develop and conduct strategy for performance improvement and service remediation
  • Manage and conduct current, historical and market rate analysis, perform quarterly impact bench marking studies, conduct quarterly QBR’s
  • Work with the Procurement and Technology Department to assist on customer reporting and performance metrics
  • Help manage any new customer projects or initiatives while working with the Procurement and Technology Team
  • Deploy Vendor facing QBR strategy and top 25 reporting feedback quarterly.
  • Look to hire and train team in North America including Mexico and Canada
  • Understand our customer networks and continue to develop, support, and drive down customer costs
  • Work with the SCS Audit Team to drive down and develop strategies that will eliminate any vendor aging issues for both fully managed and co-managed customers
  • Be a team player
  • Manage between 3-5 Support roles
  • Train and Develop any new Modal Performance Support Roles in North America
  • Learn to work with such cross functional groups as Implementation, AP, Knowledge Services, Operations, and Sales Leadership, Customer Success, EDI
