About The Position

Shell Bay is seeking a driven individual to fill the role of Manager of Horticulture & Landscape Presentation. This full-time salaried leadership position will work closely with the Landscape Manager to elevate the property's landscape presentation to a world-class standard. As Shell Bay prepares for its opening, the landscape's importance is paramount. The role involves preserving and enhancing the original landscape design, ensuring it remains a premier example of luxury landscape design. The philosophy at Shell Bay views landscape as more than maintenance; it's a crucial part of the member and guest experience. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who takes pride in creating extraordinary outdoor environments and works alongside the team daily.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in luxury horticulture, landscape management, botanical gardens, luxury resorts, five-star hotels, private estates, or premier private clubs.
  • Strong knowledge of tropical and subtropical plant material.
  • Expertise in irrigation systems, plant nutrition, soil health, and integrated plant health management.
  • Experience leading and developing landscape teams.
  • Outstanding organisational and communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • A proactive, positive, and hands-on leadership style.
  • A passion for continually improving an already exceptional property.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Director of Agronomy & Grounds.
  • Work collaboratively with Pedro and the landscape team to continually elevate the presentation of the property.
  • Preserve and enhance the original Nievera Williams Landscape Design vision.
  • Serve as a steward of the club’s horticultural standards while ensuring long-term consistency with the original landscape philosophy.
  • Lead by example through a hands-on approach to daily landscape operations.
  • Maintain exceptional horticultural standards throughout the property.
  • Monitor plant health, irrigation performance, soil conditions, fertilization programs, and integrated pest management.
  • Develop seasonal planting programs, colour displays, and enhancement projects.
  • Oversee pruning, shaping, edging, mulching, and presentation standards across the property.
  • Identify opportunities for continual improvement while maintaining consistency with the club’s luxury aesthetic.
  • Assist in maintaining relationships with Nievera Williams Landscape Design and other specialist consultants to ensure future landscape enhancements remain aligned with the original vision.
  • Mentor, train, and develop members of the landscape team.
  • Assist with scheduling, labour planning, and workflow management.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to landscape maintenance, irrigation, fertilization, and enhancement projects.
  • Collaborate with Agronomy, Engineering, Housekeeping, Golf Operations, Marina Operations, Racquets, and Club Operations to ensure exceptional presentation throughout the property.
  • Assist in planning and executing future landscape enhancement projects.
