About The Position

As the Manager of Hematology and Hospital Research Operations, you will provide oversight for the day-to-day clinical operations of the Hematology/Hospital Research team. This role involves overseeing and managing the daily activities of nurses and Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs), ensuring clinical trial-related activities are completed with completeness, accuracy, and compliance with federal and state guidelines. You will participate in trial feasibility, clinical operations review, and support trial implementation. A key responsibility is leading slot management for monthly enrollment to ensure appropriate clinical trials are prioritized and accrued. You will assess organizational processes associated with trial execution, identify areas for improvement and streamlining, and manage the performance and professional development of the research nurses and CRCs, including hiring, onboarding, and training. This role requires problem-solving clinical situations, promoting communication and accountability between colleagues, physicians, and leadership, and providing coverage and assistance with ongoing research as needed. You will keep the executive team informed of issues, progress, and risks related to trial operations and the overall clinic, meeting frequently with investigators. This position serves as the first point of escalation for MDs, Physicians, Sponsors, etc. You will assist in developing and executing internal and external strategies, represent the company vision at clinics, and be responsible for individual site goals, financial performance, quality assurance, oversight, and contracted patient enrollment. Additionally, you will assist senior leaders in ensuring continuing education and training for investigators and coordinators, and ensure colleagues are compliant with applicable protocols throughout the screening, enrolling, and following of study subjects.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Clinical knowledge and nursing skills as required by job responsibilities
  • Registered Nurse with active license in Tennessee
  • At least three years of experience in clinical research
  • Supervisory experience

  • OCN certification is preferred
  • CCRC, ACRP and SOCRA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for day-to-day clinical operations of the Hematology/Hospital Research team.
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day activities of the nurses and CRCs.
  • Oversee clinical trial-related activities completed/performed by the Research Nurse/CRC to assure completeness, accuracy, compliance, and adherence to federal and state guidelines.
  • Participate in trial feasibility, clinical operations review and supporting trial implementation.
  • Lead slot management for monthly enrollment to ensure appropriate clinical trials are prioritized and accrued.
  • Assess the organizational processes associated with trial execution and identifies ways to improve and streamline internal procedures.
  • Manage performance and professional development of the research nurses and CRCs including hiring, onboarding, and training.
  • Problem-solve clinical situations along with research nurses as they arise.
  • Promote communication and accountability between colleagues and physicians as well as hospital and clinic leadership.
