About The Position

We are hiring a Manager of FP&A. This individual manages and oversees Sequoia Living’s financial planning activities and supports CFO in guiding overall financial strategy. Develops and oversees the budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and capital planning activities of the company to join our growing team. Requirements

  • Proficient in development of sophisticated financial models leveraging existing and new technology tools available combined with comprehensive understanding of information and data from both internal and external sources.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial benchmarking, accounting, audit and tax compliance and other regulatory matters.
  • Innate ability to turn numbers into information, and to communicate the same to the stakeholders of the company who do not have accounting or finance backgrounds.
  • Sound critical thinking skills resulting in ability to disseminate actionable analysis and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff of all levels.
  • Leadership skills to provide guidance to staff.
  • Sound presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Organization and planning skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn Sequoia Living ERP system applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Ability to chair meetings and lead discussions.
  • Ability to maintain a positive customer focused approach as well as the confidentiality of resident, staff and organization information.
  • Ability to act with patience, tact and courtesy in dealing with residents, staff and vendors under demanding and difficult conditions.
  • Sensitivity and understanding of issues related to aging.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience plus five (5) years of recent experience in a finance or accounting analytical role; Master’s degree preferable.
  • Experience in a senior living company (or similar industry - customer service, hospitality or healthcare) desired.
  • Previous supervisor experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers timely and accurate analyses, summaries, and reports of financial data on the operating progress of the company including revenue and operating expense reporting and analysis.
  • Communicates financial results and variance drivers in a clear, accurate, and compelling way to facilitate understanding and action planning.
  • Develops appropriate financial reporting to support day-to-day management of financials; assist with navigating reporting tools and interpreting analyses to drive business results.
  • Identifies and develops key performance indicators and user-friendly dashboards to inform decision-making.
  • Actively participates in the implementation of new tools and technology; leverages technology to develop infrastructure and process improvement.
  • Revises and maintains cash flow projection processes and reporting structures.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal, multi-state and local regulatory requirements through research, direct communication with regulatory agencies and submission of required documentation.
  • Partners with the Accounting Management team to communicate with banks, investment managers, and vendors regarding company usage of products and services.
  • May manage purchasing/procurement activities of the company, including negotiation of terms and conditions of business arrangements with vendors.
  • Identifies workflow inefficiencies with the CCRC management team. Makes recommendations for improved business practices and develops action plans for improvement.
  • Develops forecasts and scenario analyses for all company business operations through use of existing application systems and modeling tools for predictive and proactive future action.
  • Partners with CFO and Executive Team on strategic initiatives, including cyclical and ad hoc activities such as modeling operational auditing for staffing.
  • Advises senior leadership and other executives on how to maintain the company’s economic health and strong growth based on comparative analysis of company financial performance with industry peers and macro-economic trends.
  • Participates in interviewing, hiring, supervising, training, motivating and performance management of FP&A staff as assigned.
