About The Position

This corporate level position is fully remote. Team members work in Eastern and Central Standard Time. This role oversees all aspects of fixed asset accounting, capital expenditure reporting, and capital planning for a multi-site long-term health care organization. Responsibilities include accurate capitalization, depreciation, reconciliation, and reporting of property and equipment in compliance with GAAP, Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting requirements, and organizational policies. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, experience in health care finance (preferably long-term care or skilled nursing), and the ability to manage processes across multiple facilities. Strong project management skills are a benefit, as the role will lead the onboarding of new affiliate entities onto the ERP Fixed Asset module.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience in health care accounting required; long-term care or skilled nursing strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP related to fixed assets and depreciation.
  • Experience with Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting highly desirable.
  • Experience with Acumatica ERP system preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee full lifecycle of fixed assets, including acquisition, capitalization, depreciation, transfers, and disposals.
  • Ensure proper classification of capital vs. expense items in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger.
  • Manage construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting and project closeouts.
  • Coordinate and oversee periodic physical inventory of fixed assets across facilities.
  • Coordinate with facility preventative maintenance program to optimize capital spend and reduce emergency capital purchases.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and CMS reimbursement regulations.
  • Support preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports related to capital assets and depreciation.
  • Assist with external audits, including preparation of fixed asset schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and maintain capitalization policies and internal controls.
  • Review and approve capital expenditure requests based on operational performance and cash availability.
  • Partner with facility administrators and operations teams on capital planning by facilitating quarterly meetings to review capital purchases and upcoming capital projects.
  • Manage and further enhance five-year capital planning process.
  • Track capital budgets versus actual spending.
  • Provide reporting and analysis on capital investments and asset utilization.
  • Support Accounts Payable in the identification of potential capital purchases and appropriate general ledger coding.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Ensure standardized procedures across all facilities.
  • Provide training to accounting and operations personnel on capitalization policies.
