About The Position

Killam Apartment REIT, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada's largest residential real estate investment trusts, owning, operating, and developing a $5.3 billion portfolio of apartments and manufactured home communities. Killam's strategy to drive value and profitability focuses on three priorities: (1) increase earnings from the existing portfolio; (2) expand the portfolio and diversify geographically through accretive acquisitions, targeting newer properties and dispositions of non-core assets; and (3) develop high-quality properties in its core markets. We are currently searching for a Manager of Digital Services to join our Marketing and IT department at our Corporate Office in Halifax, NS. The Manager of Digital Services will be responsible for managing Killam’s websites and ensuring they deliver an exceptional user experience. This role involves collaborating with third-party web agencies and developers, creating new web microsites, pages and content, optimizing SEO performance, and leveraging digital marketing tactics to attract prospective tenants to properties requiring additional attention. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and passionate about web technologies and digital marketing.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in a web management or digital marketing role
  • Experience working with third-party developers and vendors
  • Understanding of paid advertising strategies and conversion optimization
  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and website hosting environments
  • Completion of Google SEO and Google Ads/AdWords Certification programs
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Search Console, and other SEO tools
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and web compliance is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of Killam’s websites, ensuring functionality, accuracy, and brand consistency
  • Coordinate with third-party agencies & developers to implement new features, troubleshoot issues, and launch new websites as needed
  • Create new microsites and individual web pages and content using CMS systems and custom pages as needed
  • Ensure website content is engaging, accurate, and aligned with Killam’s brand guidelines
  • Ensure Killam’s websites are fully responsive and optimized for all devices, by collaborating with internal teams and third-party developers
  • Optimize website content and structure for search engine performance
  • Monitor and report weekly on Killam’s search rankings and website analytics using tools like Google Analytics and Search Console
  • Stay current with SEO best practices and algorithm updates
  • Collaborate with Killam’s Marketing and Leasing teams to develop strategies to attract prospective tenants to properties/markets requiring more attention
  • Assist in planning and executing targeted campaigns using Google Ads and other digital platforms
  • Ensure websites adhere to accessibility standards (WCAG) and privacy regulations
  • Coordinate with IT for security updates and performance monitoring
  • Other duties, as assigned
