About The Position

As part of Starbucks’ Global Digital Commerce organization, the manager of digital merchandising will lead how products, categories, content, recommendations and offers are organized, surfaced and optimized across Starbucks’ customer-facing digital ecosystem. This leader will help increase customer relevance, product discovery, conversion, average ticket, units per transaction and attachment by ensuring the right products and experiences show up for customers at the right moments across mobile app, web, Starbucks Shop, drive-thru order screens, digital menu boards and emerging digital experiences.

Requirements

  • 8–10+ years of experience in digital merchandising, personalization, e-commerce, digital product management, product growth, recommendation systems or related fields.
  • Experience designing, optimizing and testing taxonomy, category structures, product organization, search/browse experiences, recommendations or merchandising rules.
  • Experience owning or influencing commercial KPIs such as revenue, conversion, average order value, average ticket, units per transaction, attachment rate, click-through rate or customer engagement.
  • Experience leading recommendation, personalization, experimentation, optimization or customer decisioning programs at scale.
  • Strong analytical capability and experience working with Analytics, Finance, Data Science, Product and Technology teams to model impact, validate strategies and translate customer data into action.
  • Strong stakeholder management and governance skills, with the ability to align cross-functional partners, manage trade-offs and influence decisions in a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to define requirements for tools, data capabilities and operating processes that do not yet exist, and partner with Product and Technology teams to bring them to life.
  • Experience with MVP launches, phased rollouts, experimentation roadmaps, pilots, external partners or consultancies, and scalable capability build-out.

Responsibilities

  • Lead digital merchandising strategy across customer touchpoints – Define and execute the merchandising strategy for Starbucks’ digital channels, including menu taxonomy, category structure, product placement, sorting logic and merchandising rules that improve customer discoverability, conversion and business performance while upholding the Starbucks brand experience.
  • Influence recommendations, personalization and upsell strategy – Develop recommendation, cross-sell, upsell, bundling and contextual merchandising strategies across app, web, Starbucks Shop, drive-thru order screens and digital menu boards. Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science and Analytics to define business logic, decision frameworks, rule sets and platform requirements that use customer behavior, context, loyalty, daypart, menu data and operational signals to increase customer value.
  • Build the foundations of a scalable merchandising capability – Establish the processes, governance, operating rhythms and performance management approach for a new digital merchandising function. This includes defining standards for product elevation and de-prioritization, balancing brand-driven visibility with commercial performance, chairing cross-functional forums, and creating runbooks and training as the capability scales.
  • Drive analytics, experimentation and continuous optimization – Analyze funnel metrics including click-through rate, ticket value, conversion, menu exploration, revenue per session, average order value, units per transaction and attach rate. Build a test-and-learn agenda, define hypotheses and success criteria, run experiments and pilots, publish readouts, and use real-time performance data to continuously optimize merchandising outcomes.
  • Partner across the enterprise to deliver consistent digital experiences – Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Loyalty, Category, Creative, Analytics, Technology, Finance, Store Operations, Menu Experience and Supply Chain teams to align priorities, manage trade-offs, optimize product content, and ensure merchandising strategies are consistently executed across customer touchpoints.
