About The Position

Responsible for managing a team of Underwriting Portfolio Management Team Leaders supporting the Commercial Bank. This includes oversight of portfolio management, credit underwriting, related systems and risk rating models, counterparty risk reviews, and the training and development of the team. The role involves recommending and executing credit underwriting risk strategies while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines. Key responsibilities include ensuring the quality of underwriting and ongoing portfolio management performance metrics for the overall portfolio, as well as hiring and developing Underwriting Portfolio Managers and Team Leads.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, recommend, and communicate commercial credit underwriting and portfolio management policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure accurate and quality underwriting and portfolio management practices are aligned with the bank's risk appetite and heightened regulatory standards.
  • Hire, train, and lead a team of Underwriting Portfolio Manager Team Leads responsible for underwriting, monitoring, and analyzing assigned portfolios. Ensure managers and teams are identifying risks, meeting high standards of accuracy and quality. Ensure professional development and training standards are met. Set measurable team objectives.
  • Recommend and monitor portfolio management quality, team adherence to tolerance levels, and risk metrics. Prepare monthly productivity reports for management, and other reports, as needed. Review output from direct reports and make recommendations for improvements to all areas under purview. Provide training and guidance in completion for direct reports and team.
  • Lead communication of risk appetite to the team and business partners and ensure salient credit risks are fully discussed in the credit decision process and proper processes and procedures are followed. Support adherence to credit quality standards and concentration limits.
  • Manage and recommend improvements for C&I risk rating systems, loan origination system, and other C&I specific systems or templates. Foster a continuous improvement mindset to ensure efficient delivery of underwriting and portfolio management processes, data capture, and recommend enhancements through automation using technology and process improvements.
  • Ensure sustained satisfactory reviews by regulators, internal auditors, external auditors, and loan review for depth of underwriting, identification of Policy Exceptions, and appropriate underwriting stress analysis of credits underwritten.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
  • Serve as risk managers for their businesses by understanding, reporting, responding to, managing and monitoring the risk they encounter daily as required by F.N.B. Corporation’s risk management program.
