About The Position

Montgomery College is seeking a strategic and innovative Manager of Classification & Compensation to lead the design and execution of compensation programs that support one of the region’s most diverse and mission-driven institutions. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced compensation professional to influence workforce strategy, drive pay equity, and help attract and retain top talent across the College. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in compensation, classification, human resources, or related areas.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory or people leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams, managing complex projects, and driving organizational initiatives.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, certifications, and experience may be considered.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation.
  • Experience designing salary structures and conducting market pricing analyses.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including modeling, pivot tables, and automation.
  • Experience in higher education, public sector, or similarly complex organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of classification and compensation professionals, creating a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and exceptional customer service.
  • Partner with leadership on compensation strategy, workforce planning, organizational design, and talent initiatives.
  • Drive complex classification and compensation projects, including organizational reviews, restructuring efforts, process enhancements, and change management initiatives.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of job architectures, classifications, and position descriptions to ensure consistency, transparency, and organizational alignment.
  • Design and administer competitive compensation programs, salary structures, market pricing activities, and pay practices that attract and retain high-performing talent.
  • Provide expert guidance on pay equity, compensation analytics, compliance, and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, collective bargaining agreements, and institutional policies.
  • Leverage workforce and compensation data to inform organizational decisions, budgeting, and long-term talent strategies.
