About The Position

As the Manager of Architectural Planning, you'll lead architectural planning efforts that shape Best Buy's store experience. In this role, you'll take ownership of real estate and store design projects. You'll guide consultant teams, manage contracts, and ensure every project delivers on time, on budget, and with exceptional quality. This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You can work virtually from home or another non‑Best Buy location on Friday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

Requirements

  • 7 or more years of experience in design, planning, architectural or engineering leadership experience
  • 7 or more years of experience demonstrating the ability to build and develop drawings using AutoCAD.
  • 5 or more years of deploying negotiating strategies, terms and funding strategies.
  • 3 or more years of retail experience
  • Ability to travel approximately 30%-50%.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture or Relevant Field or Equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • General Architecture License.
  • Hands-on Field experience.
  • Proficient in Revit, Procore, Blue Yonder, and Bluebeam Revu.

Responsibilities

  • Understand requirements for building project development, including technical details, unique code and lease constraints, and guide the team toward creative, compliant solutions that meet business needs.
  • Ensure all architectural, MEP, and structural documentation aligns with Best Buy's standards and supports accurate, timely project execution.
  • Nurture and maintain strong communication with key business partners, clearly setting expectations and delivering updates on time.
  • Proactively qualify, quantify, and prioritize risks, communicating impacts and recommendations to leadership for informed decision-making.
  • Develop and manage budgets for multiple consultant contracts and trades across each project, ensuring cost efficiency and value delivery.
  • Lead complex projects independently, leveraging influence and collaboration to achieve results across multiple stakeholders.
