The Inpatient Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing day-to-day patient care, including supervising, directing, and developing nursing staff. This role reports to the Director of Acute Services to ensure the delivery of quality patient care. The manager will provide visible, inclusive, and approachable clinical leadership for nurses, patients, and families in the inpatient setting. Key responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining nursing care standards, supporting the nursing leadership team, ensuring effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and fostering a patient safety culture. The role also involves creating a culture of continuous learning, acting as a liaison between inpatient staff and administration, developing departmental policies and procedures, and demonstrating hospital values. Additionally, the manager is responsible for personnel functions such as recruitment, retention, and employee development, managing departmental financial operations within budgetary constraints, improving quality of services, ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining positive relationships with the medical staff, and departmental planning for service development. Specific day-to-day activities include ensuring adequate staffing, arranging patient placements, following up on patient and physician concerns, and completing daily reports. The manager also participates in product selection, payroll submission, updating call rosters, and scheduling staff.
