About The Position

NOACA is seeking a Manager of Accounting to join their team in Cleveland, Ohio. Requirements

  • A CPA (or be close to attainment of CPA)
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in government or public-sector finance
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting standards
  • Experience with grant accounting and compliance
  • A track record of improving systems, processes, or financial operations
  • The ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-financial leaders
  • Forward-thinking, collaborative, and solutions-oriented
  • Sees finance as a strategic function—not just a transactional one

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all core accounting functions with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and modernization
  • Ensure strong internal controls and compliance across all financial activities
  • Drive high-quality financial reporting that leadership can rely on
  • Translate financial data into insights that inform decision-making and strategy
  • Partner with Directors and Managers to support budgeting, forecasting, and program success
  • Help shape how financial practices support organizational goals
  • Lead the annual audit process, serving as the primary liaison with auditors
  • Ensure readiness and excellence in the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
  • Oversee grant accounting tied to federal and state funding
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and reporting tools
  • Champion smarter, more efficient ways of working through technology and innovation
  • Strengthen transparency and accountability across the organization
  • Model, teach, and institutionalize NOACA’s Servant Leadership Accountability approach
  • Lead with humility, empathy, and purpose
  • Create a culture of psychological safety, collaboration, and excellence
  • Develop, mentoring, and preparing staff at all levels for growth and succession
