About The Position

Manages the nutritional services department, overseeing staffing, scheduling, training, competency, and productivity. Ensures the quality and safety of food, procurement, budgeting, and cost management. This role supervises and directs the activities of assigned personnel, utilizing professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment. The position also serves as a working supervisor, applying comprehensive knowledge as a seasoned professional.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Certified Dietary Manager (CDM): Required

  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Five years' technical experience: Preferred
  • One year's leadership experience: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervises daily operations for the area of responsibility.
  • Monitors staffing and census fluctuations, anticipates problems, and responds in advance.
  • Facilitates effective organization of staff, equipment, supplies, and time.
  • Assures quality nutritional care is provided to patients by directing and monitoring nutrition provision.
  • Screens patients for nutritional risk and implements intervention activities as appropriate.
  • Uses consistent exercise of discretion and judgment.
  • Coordinates departmental purchases with the Executive Chef and Registered Dietitian for resource maximization.
  • Purchases food and equipment effectively and efficiently, minimizing waste and improving services.
  • Supports and oversees special events/projects.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment, evaluating and comparing courses of action, and making decisions/recommendations.
  • Monitors and maintains patient records, including diet orders, nourishments, food preferences, nutrition assessment/intervention, progress charting, special needs, and diet instructions/nutritional counseling.
  • Ensures all safety and sanitation standards are met, including proper operation and care of equipment according to regulatory agencies.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
