About The Position

This position is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical activities of the therapeutic apheresis department. The role involves managing, training, mentoring, and developing staff, ensuring adherence to SOPs, regulations, guidelines, practices, and policies. The Manager - Nurse maintains quality patient care, implements process improvement plans, and provides excellent customer service. They also assist in achieving the department's financial objectives through budget preparation and cost analysis, and work in conjunction with medical staff to review patient treatments and recommended plans. Communication with referring physicians and hospitals is key, acting as a professional resource. The role may also involve performing cell collection procedures, managing studies, developing and implementing quality improvement programs, risk management activities, and staff training plans. Additionally, the position assists marketing in establishing procedural rates and defining project margins, and exemplifies the Customer Service Mission and Core Values of Community Blood Center (CBC). Other functions include participating in meetings and committees, making recommendations for process improvements, and working on special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Five years of experience in nursing
  • At least three years in a critical care capacity
  • Supervisory/managerial experience
  • Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Current RN licenses in Missouri and Kansas or ability to obtain license in a state in which not currently licensed within one year of hire.
  • Knowledge of a variety of software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to interpret and analyze medical information accurately.
  • Ability to teach and mentor.
  • Ability to maintain accurate paper and electronic records.
  • Ability to travel and to work evenings/weekends as necessary.
  • Strong management, leadership, and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the daily clinical activities of the therapeutic apheresis department.
  • Managing, training, mentoring, and developing assigned staff.
  • Ensuring adherence to SOPs, regulations, guidelines, practices, and policies.
  • Maintaining quality patient care, process improvement plans, and excellent customer service.
  • Assisting to achieve the financial objective of the department through annual budget and cost analysis preparation.
  • Working in conjunction with medical staff to review all patient treatments and recommended treatment plans.
  • Communicating with referring physicians and hospitals and acting as a professional resource.
  • Assisting the medical staff with operations planning and problem resolution to achieve program goals.
  • Performing cell collection procedures as needed and assisting in managing of studies.
  • Developing and implementing a continuous quality improvement program and risk management activities.
  • Developing and implementing a staff training plan to ensure staff comprehension of all apheresis procedures, possible procedure related complications, new directives, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assisting marketing in establishing procedural rates for new and existing customers and defining project margins.
  • Exemplifying CBC's Customer Service Mission and Core Values.
  • Participating in meetings and committees as needed.
  • Making recommendations for improvements of business unit's processes and practices.
  • Working on special projects as assigned.
  • Performing any related duties as assigned.
