About The Position

As part of Google’s Network Delivery Implementation (NDI) organization, the Manager, Network Implementation Engineer will lead a busy metro as a Technical Lead in a strategic L5 manager role. The position is responsible for deploying Google’s large-scale networking solutions successfully and at scale within an assigned region in North America. The manager establishes and executes continuous-improvement goals, driving processes and performance to meet interval, quality, and cost metrics while cultivating a strong culture of operational safety focused on customers. The role operates in complex data center environments and requires a strong background in network technologies and an understanding of large-scale networking. It also involves driving business-process innovation to accelerate network delivery at scale. Google’s Network Engineering team operates its global network reliably and at scale, monitoring performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components, and responding to connectivity issues.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
At least 6 years of experience in network operations, including executing network diagnostics and working with fiber optics infrastructure.
Experience in people management and project management.
Experience leading technical teams.

Nice To Haves

7 years of experience in telecommunications or hyperscale infrastructure, including 3 years in an engineering leadership role.
Experience leading, inspiring, and developing geographically dispersed technical teams.
Deep understanding of IP/MPLS, optical transport, data center, wireless, and large-scale network architectures.
Ability to translate business objectives into action.
Excellent executive-level communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

Lead the team in identifying and managing interdependencies across drive projects.

Deploy Google’s large-scale networking solutions successfully and at scale in the assigned North American region.
