About The Position

The Manager of Monitoring and Decontamination Services (M&DS) is responsible for ensuring the monitoring of radiation and contamination throughout the facility, decontamination and transfer of radioactive materials. Reporting to the Director of Nuclear Regulatory & EHS.

Requirements

Minimum college diploma in a science discipline
A minimum of five years prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of radiation and radioactive contamination including the fundamental hazards and detection methods.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks without losing focus on priorities.
Experience working in a unionized environment.
Must have excellent verbal and written skills.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge and understanding of nuclear facilities is considered an asset.
Knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Effectively engaging with Managers and Senior Technicians in Radiation Safety, Production, QC, Development and Shipping to ensure work is coordinated.
Effectively engage with Managers and Senior Technicians in Radiation Safety, EHS, Engineering, Calibration, Process Equipment Support and Facilities to ensure safety concerns are resolved in a timely manner.
Effectively provide discipline, coaching, engagement and management for personnel within the bounds of collective agreement.
Manage a team of Monitors, Operators and Helpers to ensure the timeliness and effectiveness of monitoring and decontamination.
Ensure appropriate staffing levels are commensurate with current and future operational needs.
Onboard, coach, train and manage performance.
Ensure that employees adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
Motivate and mentor the team to drive team performance.
Create and maintain an environment of integrity, authenticity, trust, collaboration and respect.
Demonstrate a commitment to safety in decisions and behaviours.
Assess job hazards and implement mitigation measures.
Effectively address concerns.
Collaborate with other functional groups to resolve identified safety concerns.
