About The Position

The Manager, Mechanical Integrity oversees and leads all aspects of facility asset mechanical integrity programs for Howard Energy Partners’ gas plants, compressor stations, and liquids terminals. This role is responsible for program development, inspection execution, regulatory compliance, budgeting, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of integrity systems. The Manager serves as the Mechanical Integrity Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing technical guidance to ensure facility safety, regulatory compliance, and equipment reliability while coordinating with internal operational teams and external inspection contractors.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of mechanical integrity principles and fixed equipment inspection practices.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply applicable codes and standards, including OSHA 1910.119, ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, and API 510, 570, and 653.
Advanced understanding of non-destructive examination (NDE) technologies and inspection methodologies.
Ability to perform corrosion analysis, remaining life calculations, and risk-based inspection evaluations.
Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, isometric drawings, and pressure vessel documentation.
Experience managing inspection contractors and coordinating cross-functional operational teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Working knowledge of Integrity Data Management Systems (IDMS).
Ability to generate and manage project budgets, schedules, and compliance matrices.
Ability to manage business-unit budgets
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required; equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.
8+ years of API inspection-related experience in plant process equipment.
Experience managing company Mechanical Integrity programs in gas processing, compression, or terminal environments.
Experience conducting internal and on-stream inspections of pressure vessels and piping systems.
Current API 510 and API 570 certification required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.

Nice To Haves

Additional API certifications (API 653 or others) preferred.

Responsibilities

Leads and manages the Mechanical Integrity program, including inspections, data updates within Integrity Data Management Systems (IDMS), equipment criticality determinations, and repair recommendations to prevent failures and reduce operational risk.
Develops and maintains written mechanical integrity procedures, specifications, and inspection plans to maximize on-stream time of critical equipment.
Provides technical expertise on fixed equipment including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, storage tanks, valves, boilers, and related assets.
Ensures mechanical integrity programs meet all applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Participates as the mechanical integrity representative during internal and external PSM audits and Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs).
Conducts facility risk assessments and prioritizes risk-based inspection schedules where applicable.
Manages API-certified contract inspectors and internal inspection personnel, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, cost, and schedule expectations.
Reviews and approves NDE and inspection results, identifies anomalies, and eliminates erroneous data.
Performs corrosion rate and remaining life calculations for equipment and piping systems.
Participates in Root Cause Analysis investigations and provides recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Collaborates with engineering and operations teams to integrate mechanical integrity requirements into maintenance strategies and daily operations.
Promotes mechanical integrity best practices across the organization to ensure designs and projects incorporate company standards and risk minimization principles.
Leads continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection procedures, documentation standards, and program effectiveness.
Ensures consistency in inspection reporting and communication of results to stakeholders.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
