About The Position

Under the Director of Materials Management, this role is responsible for the overall operation of the Materials Management distribution process and provides leadership over the materials management department. The position is responsible for the management and purchasing of all medical/surgical supplies, medical equipment, services, and capital assets for the metro hospitals. Key responsibilities include ensuring the effective usage of human and financial resources to achieve quality outcomes. The role requires availability 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and may involve overtime and callback as required by the hospitals.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience in Materials Management or Two (2) years formal leadership experience in any function.
  • High school Diploma or Equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in healthcare facility.
  • Bachelor degree and 2 years experience or 6 years experience in Healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews, counsels, disciplines, assigns, and monitors work; trains, orients, and evaluates assigned personnel.
  • Develops productivity and performance standards.
  • Observes and documents productivity of assigned personnel to maintain department FTE goals.
  • Promotes BMHCC vision/values through personal example and interaction with staff and ensures compliance with BMHCC policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes department operations, identifies opportunities for cost reductions and enhanced efficiency.
  • Monitors supply needs of customers and develops improvement plans with measurable goals to enhance services.
  • Directs overall operation of materials management departments and works with staff and customers to enhance efficiency and quality of service.
  • Maintains good working relationship with all hospital departments by providing service, assistance and open communication.
  • Develops and maintains a positive work climate and the overall team efforts of the department.
  • Communicates and interacts with staff and key customers to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.
