Manager, Materials Managment
About The Position
Manager, Materials Management at Relativity Space is responsible for the physical and systematic movement of inventory, including all operations related to shipping, receiving, logistics, inventory control, material handling, and production control. This role is crucial for ensuring inventory accuracy and efficient, timely material movement within the manufacturing of the Terran R launch vehicle. The position requires becoming a subject matter expert on enterprise systems (ERP, MES, etc.) and interacting with various cross-functional stakeholders and internal customers across different work centers. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, the ability to navigate ambiguity, and a process-oriented mindset.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of people leadership experience in a manufacturing or operations environment
- Strong expertise in receiving, material movement, picking, and kitting operations
- Hands-on experience using ERP systems for materials transactions
- Strong internal customer orientation and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Working knowledge of logistics fundamentals
Nice To Haves
- APICS Certification (CPIM)
- Experience with export regulations and intercompany logistics
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
- Experience managing high-volume operations in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with project management tools and structured execution
Responsibilities
- Own inbound and outbound logistics, including dock operations, freight coordination, and intercompany shipments
- Partner with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure timely and accurate material flow to the factory
- Build and continuously improve work order fulfillment, picking, kitting, and line-side delivery processes
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce transportation costs and improve logistics efficiency
- Establish and track logistics KPIs (dock-to-stock time, on-time delivery, transaction accuracy, freight cost)
- Lead logistics-focused continuous improvement initiatives including material pull systems and value stream mapping
