The Material Planning Manager is a key operations leader who is accountable for material plans, factory attainment, network-wide capacity management, material planner development, and planning process transformation. This Material Planning Manager will lead a team of three (3) material planners, optimizing product supply and inventory/cash management to support the dynamic needs of the business. The position will be based out of our 60,000 sq. foot, modern Emeryville, California office.  WE ARE A CULTURE OF PERSONAL CONNECTON, WHICH IS WHY WE’VE CHOSEN A PERMANENT HYBRID WORK ENVIRONMENT WITH NORMS THAT EQUATE TO 3 DAYS MID-WEEK IN THE OFFICE FOR EMPLOYEES BASED IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. The expected pay scale this role is $125-$135k, which may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications, geographic area (if applicable), and internal equity for the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or similar discipline.
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire high performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • 6+ years of experience in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry, working within an MRP-driven environment across functions such as inventory control, production scheduling, master scheduling, demand management, capacity management, materials management, or distribution resource planning.
  • Hands-on expertise with integrated planning systems, including formal training and practical experience with ERP, DRP, and MRP platforms. 
  • Dynamic, people focused leadership with a proven ability to develop talent, build strong teams, and drive accountability.
  • Adept at building relationships across all organizational levels, fostering collaboration and alignment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes and advanced planning systems.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable plans and lead cross-functional change initiatives.
  • Sound business judgment and proactive decision-making, especially in fast paced, high growth environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy. Ability to convey complex information in a clear, compelling manner.

Responsibilities

  • Subject Matter Expert for planning process transformation, training, project meetings, and contract manufacturing (CM, co-man) onboarding.
  • Category owner leads Material Planners to optimize raw material inventory to support finished good forecasts, ensuring that customer service levels and inventory performance targets are met. 
  • Facilitate monthly procurement orders for supplier(s), adhering to capacity availability, lead times, sku mix and minimum order quantities and summarizes output for Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Supply Review.
  • Collaborates with PNC Sourcing Manager(s) to ensure Supplier(s) adherence to attainment is met and developing continuous improvement action plans.
  • Supply Review product category lead, analyze and communicate relevant information to senior leadership, evaluate multiple scenarios, highlight gaps, articulating impacts, and offer countermeasure solutions.
  • Support Material Planners during regular production meetings with Supplier(s) as needed to ensure strong communication with business partners. 
  • Recommend supplier stock levels and collaborate internally and externally to optimize production schedules to meet business segment cash, cost, and service objectives.
  • Build a strong team through coaching, feedback, training, and effective performance management. 
  • Create inventory and attainment reports/dashboards and present continuous improvement suggestions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in areas of MRP plans, ERP system performance and material planning standard work.
  • Attending meetings and presentations.
  • Participating in company-wide activities and events galore.
  • Impromptu conversations with colleagues.
  • Administrivia like email, calendaring, expense reports, and other non-value-added work.
