The Manufacturing Controls Engineering Manager is a strategic, hands-on leadership role overseeing a team of industrial control system engineers who design, program, and support PLC-based automation systems across manufacturing operations. The role combines industrial automation expertise with leadership and project management to advance innovation, system reliability, and operational excellence. The manager leads and develops the controls engineering team, provides technical guidance on PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols, and oversees control-system standards, documentation, technology integrations, and upgrades. The role manages automation projects from concept through implementation and commissioning, working with production, maintenance, IT, and external vendors to deliver projects on time and within scope and budget. It also leads troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, supports production optimization, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The position includes limited local and North American travel, each listed as less than 10%. Work takes place in office and factory environments. Factory conditions may include moving machinery and vehicles, vibration, electrical current, temperature changes, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, gases, and loud noise. The role requires close visual acuity and may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of up to 25 pounds in the office and up to 50 pounds in the factory. Factory machinery operation requires safety equipment such as eye protection, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats.
