As an integral part of the Delavan plant, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for executing on the deployment of Total Prevention Maintenance (TPM) processes across a complex recycled glass processing facility, including process development, training, and compliance auditing. This role involves collaborating with Sibelco glass processing plants, regionally and nationwide, in the operation and maintenance of optical sorting machines and other industrial equipment. The Maintenance Manager will report to the Plant Manager and lead the plant maintenance team to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant equipment, while practicing and enforcing safe practices within the department and training employees on safety, best practices, and job-specific assignments. This position requires expertise in the maintenance of pneumatic valves on optical sorting machines, auditing plant performance, and becoming a subject-matter expert in the operation and troubleshooting of optical sorting machines from multiple manufacturers. The role also includes calculating and issuing monthly fuel surcharge updates, championing Lean and Continuous Improvement Initiatives, and performing tasks such as changing belts and idler pulleys on conveyors. Additionally, the Maintenance Manager will develop and refine maintenance planning processes and preventive maintenance programs, evaluate the quality of maintenance performed by internal teams and external vendors, identify plant performance issues, and provide recommendations for equipment and design changes. Leading plants in performing root cause analysis (8D process) of issues involving quality, yield, and uptime is also a key responsibility. The role involves managing the company-wide CMMS (SAP) system for tracking capital assets, life expectancy, and R&M budgets and costs, as well as managing equipment vendor relationships, the global spare parts program, and spare parts inventory. Overseeing the maintenance of forklifts, loaders, and other mobile equipment, along with part number administration and entry, are also part of the duties. The Maintenance Manager will perform hands-on escalated maintenance troubleshooting and repairs, periodic preventive maintenance checks, and basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs. Coaching, training, and accountability for plant maintenance personnel, and assisting in hiring, are crucial aspects of the role. This includes reportable reports administration within the CMMS (SAP). The position supports Continuous Improvement initiatives, the emergency repair process, and provides first-line escalation support during equipment failures. Tracking equipment status, redistributing maintenance and spare-parts assets, and expediting high-priority repair efforts to maximize plant uptime performance are essential. The role involves supervising and leading the plant maintenance team.
