This leader will be responsible for the Charlotte central area. The office location is Carolinas Medical Center with a focus on Advocate Health facilities in the central Charlotte, NC area where this manager's staff of medical interpreters will serve patients, families and healthcare providers. The position requires leadership experience and typically requires 5 years of experience in a medical environment performing medical verbal and written interpretation and translation, leading and prioritizing staff work, and acting as a resource to staff on complex cases. Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in a medical environment. A Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Health Care Administration OR a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Nursing is required. The role demands a professional command of bilingual medical terminology, including anatomy and physiology, diagnostic process, treatment, prevention and health education models. Knowledge concerning the ethics of medical interpreting as outlined by the National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare (NCIHC) is essential. The ability to work in challenging situations to oversee the work of interpreters involved in issues of delivering difficult messages including death and dying is necessary. Excellent human relations and communication skills, along with basic computer skills and the ability to utilize video interpreting techniques, are also required.
