Manager-Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance
About The Position
Ensures hospital grounds and off-campus facilities receive quality landscape maintenance. Coordinates and monitors the performance of work crews so that quality standards are met. Requires hands-on crew supervision as well as job-site performance of all maintenance duties. Eisenhower has been a leader in health care for the Coachella Valley since we opened our medical center in 1971. Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or higher level degree
- Certified Arborist within one (1) year of hire
- Five (5) years of progressive landscaping leadership experience
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations
- Ability to delegate tasks effectively, optimize team productivity and ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives
- Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner
- Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment and discretion
- Knowledge of plant and turf identification and care, including disease and insect knowledge
- Problem solving skills to identify issues and formulate effective solutions
- Written and verbal communication skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or related field
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- Hires, trains, counsels, coaches staff and completes annual employee performance reviews; creates and maintains job descriptions and develops policies and procedures as needed.
- Develops and prioritizes the daily work list and assigns duties to crew members and contract crew, to include weekly/monthly work schedules.
- Develops and maintains partnerships with local nurseries, tree and hedge trimming companies to assure high quality products, and timely deliveries.
- Oversees quality control of Hospital Grounds and off-campus facilities.
- Conducts before and inspections of all enhancement projects.
- Identifies insect and disease issues and develops remediation plans.
- Reports turf and tree stress and develops remediation plans.
- Ensures staff completes irrigation tasks such as setting and checking clocks, reporting any damage and repairs to ensure preservation of landscapes.
- Controls landscapes project expenditures by managing crew productivity and optimizing resource allocation.
- Supervises contractor foreman and all land care responsibilities.
- Prioritizes the daily work list and assigns duties to crew members and contract crew.
- Ensures an aesthetically pleasing landscape for hospital staff and visitors by maintaining working knowledge of production planning and scheduling as it pertains to turf, seasonal plantings maintenance.
- Oversees proper safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment usage and practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
