About The Position

The Senior Manager, Governmental – Land Defense leads the Land Defense business for North America, with accountability for strategy execution, business growth, and customer outcomes. This role drives expansion of the North America defense portfolio to support overall Mobile Business Unit objectives, partnering closely with internal cross-functional teams to shape opportunities, position solutions, and deliver against commitments. The Senior Manager ensures complete customer satisfaction through disciplined program execution, responsive support, and strong stakeholder relationships—enabling repeat awards and long-term partnership growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in sales, in lieu of a degree, at least 11 years’ experience in sales
  • Minimum of 2 years in leadership and management roles within Sales function.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or MBA
  • Experience supporting sales and bid processes.
  • Knowledge of MTU products, policies and procedures
  • Proficient with sales processes using SAP, other ERP systems, and CRM tools.
  • Technical expertise in mission-critical systems with the ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications for power systems.

Responsibilities

  • Set and execute the North America Land Defense growth strategy, identifying and capturing new business with vehicle OEMs, U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps forces, system integrators, and fleet operators.
  • Build and sustain executive-level customer and stakeholder relationships to shape requirements, influence acquisition strategies, and position the business for repeat awards.
  • Own customer outcomes across the opportunity-to-delivery lifecycle, proactively managing expectations, escalations, and performance to ensure satisfaction and long-term partnership.
  • Lead capture planning and offer development, aligning solution, pricing, terms, and documentation with engineering, finance, legal, and program teams.
  • Negotiate and close contracts consistent with company objectives and approvals, while evaluating and managing contractual risk, warranty terms, and life-cycle support commitments.
  • Translate voice-of-customer insights into portfolio actions, partnering with R&D to prioritize product improvements and new product development opportunities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team, establishing clear priorities, accountabilities, and rigor in opportunity management.
  • Provide senior leadership with accurate forecasts, pipeline health, and market intelligence, highlighting trends, risks, and actions required to deliver commitments.
  • Ensure disciplined governance and compliance across all pursuits and contracts, including export controls, defense regulations, and internal policies.
