About The Position

We are seeking a dependable, hands-on 1st Shift Janitorial Manager to oversee daily cleaning and janitorial operations at a large, high-traffic shopping center. The Manager will be responsible for leading the daytime janitorial team, maintaining exceptional cleanliness throughout the property, completing inspections, addressing customer and tenant concerns, and ensuring all assigned areas meet company and property standards. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who takes pride in cleanliness, has excellent attention to detail, communicates effectively, and can manage employees in a fast-paced retail environment.

Requirements

Previous janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience required.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures, floor care, restroom cleaning, and general janitorial operations.
Ability to safely operate or learn to operate commercial cleaning equipment.
Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and willing to work hands-on when needed.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Experience working in a shopping center, mall, commercial property, or other high-traffic facility is highly preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify areas requiring corrective action.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, tenants, and management.

Responsibilities

Supervise, train, and direct 1st shift janitorial employees and assigned cleaning personnel.
Ensure all common areas, restrooms, Food court, exterior entries, and other assigned locations are properly maintained throughout the day.
Conduct routine inspections of the property to ensure cleanliness and appearance standards are consistently met.
Assign daily tasks and ensure employees complete work efficiently and according to established procedures.
Monitor high-traffic areas and respond quickly to spills, trash, restroom issues, and other cleaning needs.
Maintain a strong presence throughout the shopping center and ensure the property remains clean, safe, and presentable during operating hours.
Address customer, and property management cleaning concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Communicate daily priorities, special projects, and property needs to the Janitorial Manager or Project Manager.
Assist with employee training, coaching, performance management, and maintaining proper staffing levels.
Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, uniforms, appearance, and adherence to company policies.
Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
Operate and oversee the proper use of floor machines, scrubbers, vacuums, pressure washers, and other janitorial equipment as needed.
Report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, maintenance issues, and property concerns to management.
Ensure all safety procedures, chemical handling requirements, and company policies are followed.
Assist with special events, and other special cleaning projects.
Maintain accurate daily logs, inspection reports, supply requests, and other required documentation.
Work closely with shopping center management, security, maintenance, tenants, and other departments when necessary.
Lead by example by maintaining a professional attitude, strong work ethic, and high standards of cleanliness.
The 1st Shift Janitorial Manager is expected to be a working supervisor who does not simply assign tasks but actively monitors the property and supports the team throughout the shift.
Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
Be visible and accessible throughout the property.
Hold employees accountable for their assigned responsibilities.
Address problems before they become complaints.
Maintain open communication with management and the property team.
Take ownership of the overall appearance and cleanliness of the shopping center.
