About The Position

This role is for a Manager, IT Security & Compliance who will lead a team that protects the organization while enabling the business. The ideal candidate will be able to clearly express complex security concepts and believes in driving continuous improvement in security and compliance to stay ahead of threats. The position is with AMA, an organization that helps protect its members' interests in areas like roadside safety, retail savings, food security, and childhood well-being. AMA has operations spanning automotive, registries, travel, and insurance, and is committed to making a meaningful difference in the communities it serves.

Requirements

  • University degree or technical school diploma in Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science, or Engineering (or relevant experience if degree is in another field).
  • At least ten (10) years of progressive experience in the IT Security industry.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in management/leadership roles.
  • Certifications and/or education in IT Security / Compliance (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CISM).
  • Certification(s) in relevant cyber preparation, defense, and education content.

Nice To Haves

  • Project management, architecture, and other certifications are considered an asset.
  • Experience with AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar platforms is a real plus, especially when used to work smarter, increase efficiency, and find better ways to get things done.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations and continuous improvement of a 24x7x365 IT Security & Compliance team.
  • Develop and implement a rolling multi-year strategic security vision, complete with 1-year agile roadmaps and a rolling 3-year strategy, in collaboration with the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office and business leaders.
  • Ensure the enterprise functions securely and efficiently, meeting or exceeding all required internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in building and providing architectural vision for security across software development and IT operations teams, enabling teams to 'shift-left' on security.
  • Identify and coordinate the implementation of team structures, policies, plans, procedures, and practices to ensure the Security & Compliance team is aligned with business objectives, meets performance KPIs & OKRs, adheres to Information Security & Regulatory frameworks (NIST, PCI, ITGC, OSFI, etc.), and serves as a valued business partner.
  • Provide mutual respect, great communication, and empathetic listening to supported teams, embodying the TYLF culture.
  • Be accountable for direct leadership of medium-to-large security & compliance epics and day-to-day operational leadership.
