About The Position

AgeCare is seeking an experienced Manager, IT Network and Telecommunications to provide technical expertise, operational support, and technological oversight for communications, network infrastructure, and site technology systems across healthcare and long-term care environments. This role is responsible for supporting and integrating network infrastructure, telephone systems, copier services, nurse call systems, building automation systems, electronic access control systems, CCTV, and related site technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders, service providers, system vendors, consultants, and implementation partners to ensure technology solutions align with operational requirements, organizational standards, cybersecurity expectations, and long-term technology objectives. While the role includes awareness and support of network infrastructure technologies, it also requires sufficient technical knowledge to participate in needs assessments, requirements analysis, proposal reviews, rollout planning, and oversight of technology initiatives that support resident care, operational effectiveness, data separation, business continuity, and secure site operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience supporting network infrastructure, telecommunications, healthcare technology, building systems, or related technology environments.
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure technologies including Fortinet firewalls, IPsec VPNs, WAN management, Ubiquiti Enterprise switches, Ubiquiti Enterprise wireless solutions, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, LAN/WAN connectivity, WiFi, fibre infrastructure, and related network hardware.
  • Knowledge of telephone and communications platforms such as Panasonic, Avaya, e-MetroTel, Grandstream, Toshiba, or similar VoIP/PBX solutions.
  • Familiarity with nurse call systems such as Austco, Carehawk, SARA, MyAlert, or similar resident communication and emergency response platforms.
  • Ability to support and coordinate site technology systems including Building Automation Systems (BAS), electronic door access systems, CCTV/video surveillance systems, and related technologies.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with service providers, system vendors, contractors, consultants, and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of requirements analysis, solution evaluation, technical review processes, technology governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, project coordination, and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with healthcare, long-term care, senior living, hospitality, or multi-site facility environments is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, and related cloud-based services is considered an asset.
  • Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) or Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP).
  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
  • BICSI Technician, Installer, or related structured cabling certification.
  • Ubiquiti Enterprise Networking certification or equivalent experience.
  • Vendor-specific telecommunications, VoIP/PBX, nurse call, building systems, or security systems certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), CAPM, or equivalent project delivery experience considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation, review, and ongoing improvement of site network infrastructure in coordination with IT infrastructure teams, vendors, and operational stakeholders.
  • Maintain working knowledge of network infrastructure technologies including Fortinet firewalls, IPsec VPNs, WAN management, Ubiquiti Enterprise switches, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, LAN/WAN connectivity, WiFi, fibre-optic connectivity, LAN/WAN architecture and related network hardware to support network segmentation, security, and data separation requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of enterprise WiFi technologies, including Ubiquiti Enterprise wireless solutions, coverage planning, capacity considerations, roaming, security, and integration with network infrastructure to support facility retrofit, expansion, and modernization initiatives.
  • Provide technological oversight and subject matter expertise for telephone and copier services across the organization.
  • Maintain sufficient technical knowledge of VoIP, PBX, SIP, call routing, voicemail, extensions, and related connectivity requirements.
  • Support telephone platforms including Panasonic, Avaya, e-MetroTel, Grandstream, Toshiba, and similar VoIP/PBX solutions.
  • Analyze call quality, service performance, connectivity, and related technology issues and coordinate corrective actions as required.
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and support nurse call systems used in healthcare and long-term care environments.
  • Support nurse call platforms including Austco, Carehawk, SARA, MyAlert, and similar resident communication and emergency response systems.
  • Integrate nurse call alerts with mobile devices, telephony systems, annunciators, and related infrastructure.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, system testing, and support resident safety and operational requirements.
  • Support the operation and integration of site technology systems in accordance with organizational technology standards.
  • Support interfaces between IT infrastructure and Building Automation Systems (BAS), including HVAC, environmental controls, monitoring systems, and related technologies.
  • Support electronic door access and security systems, including credential management, controllers, software platforms, and associated infrastructure requirements.
  • Support CCTV and video surveillance systems, including camera infrastructure, recording platforms, storage systems, monitoring solutions, and remote access capabilities.
  • Provide technological oversight and act as the primary IT liaison for telecommunications, network infrastructure, nurse call, building automation, door access, CCTV, and other site technology systems.
  • Conduct technology needs assessments, requirements analysis, solution evaluations, and technical reviews, including review of technical specifications, vendor proposals, and implementation plans.
  • Provide IT approval recommendations and coordinate vendor engagements, technology implementations, issue resolution, lifecycle planning, and modernization initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational standards, cybersecurity requirements, and long-term technology objectives.
  • Promote the secure, reliable, and responsible operation of network infrastructure, telecommunications, nurse call, building technology, and site systems across the organization.
  • Ensure technology solutions and system integrations align with organizational policies, security standards, privacy requirements, and operational objectives.
  • Support risk management, business continuity, and resident care objectives through the evaluation and stewardship of technology systems and services.
  • Collaborate with IT, Facilities, Operations, service providers, system vendors, and external partners to maintain secure and resilient technology environments.
  • Maintain diagrams, configuration documentation, cabling schedules, asset information, and technical procedures.
  • Provide end-user, vendor, and operational support for network infrastructure, telecommunications, nurse call, security, and site technology systems.
