About The Position

The Manager, IT Infrastructure will lead and manage staff, consultants, vendors, and Managed Services providers to ensure the stable/secure, reliable, scalable, and resilient operation of the enterprise infrastructure services, including hybrid cloud, network, compute, data center, backup/recovery, identity-integrated infrastructure, and related operational platforms. This role is responsible for the strategic direction, lifecycle management, modernization, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise IT infrastructure services. The role partners closely with IT Operations, IT Security, Enterprise Applications, project teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver effective infrastructure services, support regulated systems, resolve operational issues, and implement infrastructure security controls aligned to the Bioventus IT Security programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical (IT) or business-related field, or equivalent years relevant technical experience and related training may be considered.
  • 5 years of experience leading and managing IT infrastructure, people and projects, preferably in a regulated environment
  • 5 years of hands-on technical experience in IT systems administration, preferably in a regulated environment
  • Professional certifications in required technical areas is highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of IT architecture and IT governance
  • Strong team leadership skills: coaching, mentoring, and team capability development
  • Strong knowledge of DR/BCP concepts, practices and execution
  • Ability to relate business requirements and risks to technical controls, systems and processes
  • Aptitude to understand and adapt to new technologies
  • Ability to clearly communicate new solutions and controls to management and business leaders
  • An understanding of IaaS and SaaS based risks and security controls
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Thorough understanding of key regulatory guidelines, policies, and audit practices
  • Understanding of the principles, theories, techniques, practices, and policies and procedures of security and validation standards, and controls
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure considerations for ERP and business-critical platforms such as SAP, including availability, integrations, performance, hosting, security, and disaster recovery dependencies. Working knowledge of SOX, HIPAA, PCI, HiTech, CFR Part 11 system validation and experience in maintaining systems in a controlled state
  • Excellent project management, organization, and team collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the reliability, scalability, security, and resiliency of hybrid infrastructure platforms, including cloud services, enterprise networks, identity-integrated infrastructure, backup/recovery capabilities, and vendor-supported technology services.
  • Owns infrastructure lifecycle planning, including patching, upgrades, capacity planning, end-of-life remediation, technical debt reduction, and modernization initiatives.
  • Ensures infrastructure services are delivered in accordance with IT service management practices, including incident, problem, change, asset, configuration, and request management
  • Ensures infrastructure services are supported by effective monitoring, alerting, documentation, runbooks, escalation procedures, and service performance measures.
  • People leadership - Develops team capabilities through coaching, cross-training, performance feedback, workload planning, succession planning, and alignment of team objectives to IT and business priorities. Conducts full performance management cycles and employee development.
  • Partners with IT Security to implement and maintain infrastructure security controls, vulnerability remediation, access-related infrastructure safeguards, logging/monitoring capabilities, and incident response support in alignment with the Bioventus IT Security program.
  • Manages infrastructure vendors, Managed Services providers, contracts, escalations, service performance, and renewal/input planning in partnership with IT leadership and procurement.
  • Develops and maintains disaster recovery, business continuity, and cyber-resilience capabilities for infrastructure-supported services.
  • Maintains infrastructure standards, diagrams, runbooks, lifecycle roadmaps, asset/configuration docs, and operational procedures to support service continuity and knowledge transfer.
  • Investigates industry trends and new technologies, providing guidance and recommendations to IT leadership and own team. Develops and delivers services via a standardized IT service catalog. Delivers high availability systems and Disaster Recovery (DR) services.
  • Acts as the technical escalation point for staff and collaborates with the other IT managers to determine the right technical solution for issues as well as ongoing technology at the company.
  • Works closely with business areas to understand and refine their IT infrastructure needs. Provides consulting on Business Continuity Planning (BCP) to business areas.
  • Manages and participates in infrastructure incidents, guiding to successful conclusion. Addresses issues related to access control, business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response.
  • Participates in the development of standards and processes for meeting compliance requirements for all related regulatory bodies (such as SOX, FDA, HIPAA, etc.) impacting IT.
  • Maintains infrastructure-related evidence/docs, access reviews, change records, backup/recovery, audit control support materials, inspections, and regulated system operations.
  • Provides consultation to project teams; performs assessments of security impacts, identifying potential and actual system risks, recommending corrective measures. Manages staff in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining a secure enterprise infrastructure to reduce risk, respond to incidents and limit exposure to liability to reduce financial loss.
  • Holds oneself and others accountable to conduct business in a manner compliant with Bioventus’ Code of Compliance and Ethics, policies and procedures and internal controls applicable to their role.
