About The Position

We are looking for a Manager, Insurance and Advisor Compliance to join the Insurance Solutions Business Risk and Controls team. The Manager, Insurance and Advisor Compliance is responsible for providing subject matter expertise and oversight in support of insurance regulatory compliance, advisor compliance, and related risk management activities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring regulatory requirements are effectively understood, assessed, and implemented across the business while supporting a strong culture of compliance and market conduct. Reporting to the Director, Insurance and Advisor Compliance, the Manager will partner closely with stakeholders across Insurance Solutions, Distribution, Operations, Risk, Legal, Privacy, and Compliance to assess regulatory impacts, identify compliance risks, implement controls, and provide practical guidance to support business objectives. The successful candidate will bring strong regulatory expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to influence outcomes, build trusted relationships, and drive results in a complex, matrixed environment. Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in one of the following office locations: London, Toronto, or Winnipeg, with London being the preferred location.

Requirements

  • 6-9 years of experience in compliance, risk management, regulatory oversight, audit, governance, financial services, insurance, or a related field.
  • University degree in Business, Finance, Law, Risk Management, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance regulatory compliance requirements and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience supporting the assessment and implementation of regulatory change initiatives.
  • Knowledge of advisor compliance, advisor oversight, distribution practices, and market conduct requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, exercise sound judgment, and make timely recommendations that balance risk and business objectives.
  • Proven ability to build credibility, establish strong relationships, and navigate a complex matrixed environment.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present recommendations to leaders and business partners.
  • Results-oriented with excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with privacy, anti-money laundering (AML), regulatory compliance, or other risk management disciplines is considered an asset.
  • Previous people leadership experience is considered an asset; however, experience coaching, mentoring, teaching, and developing others will also be highly valued.
  • Professional designations in compliance, risk management, accounting, or financial services are considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on insurance regulatory compliance requirements, advisor compliance, and market conduct expectations.
  • Assess new and emerging regulatory requirements, identify business impacts and compliance risks, and develop practical, risk-based recommendations to support implementation.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to implement regulatory changes and ensure compliance requirements are effectively embedded within business processes and controls.
  • Support advisor oversight programs, advisor compliance activities, investigations, escalations, and remediation efforts to promote adherence to regulatory and company standards.
  • Conduct compliance reviews and assessments, identify compliance gaps and control weaknesses, and recommend remediation and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Operations, Product, Risk, Privacy, Legal, and Compliance teams to strengthen compliance controls and risk management practices.
  • Prepare and deliver reporting, analysis, and recommendations for leadership and governance committees.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and industry trends to ensure policies, procedures, and practices remain current and aligned with regulatory expectations.
  • Build strong partnerships across a matrixed organization, influence stakeholders at all levels, and drive initiatives through to successful outcomes.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and support to team members while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
  • Lead or support compliance-related projects and initiatives, balancing multiple priorities and adapting to evolving business and regulatory needs.
