About The Position

The Influencer Relations Manager, Legal is responsible for building and managing Thomson Reuters influence strategy across the legal ecosystem. This role focuses working with the legal influencer program manager on cultivating trusted third‑party voices—including leaders, practitioners, academics and institutional leaders—to strengthen market credibility for Thomson Reuters legal AI capabilities and platforms, including CoCounsel Legal. This is not a consumer‑style influencer marketing role. Success is measured by credibility, quality of influence, and impact on market narrative, not follower counts or sponsored posts. The role works closely with Product and Technology Communications & Corporate Communications team, Legal & Corporates Segment Marketing, Partnerships and Alliances Team, Events, Product, Analyst Relations, and senior legal leaders to ensure that Thomson Reuters is represented accurately, responsibly, and credibly in influential legal conversations globally.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in influencer relations, strategic communications, public affairs, or B2B marketing within legal, professional services, technology, or regulated industries.
  • Deep understanding of the legal profession and its ecosystem, including law firms, in‑house legal departments, academia, and legal media.
  • Demonstrated experience building long‑term, credibility‑driven relationships with senior external stakeholders.
  • Strong judgment and ability to operate in high‑stakes, highly visible environments.
  • Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with Communications, Marketing, Product, and senior leadership.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong point of view on how influence works in the legal profession
  • Highly credible, diplomatic, and trusted by internal and external stakeholders
  • Program‑oriented, not campaign‑oriented
  • Comfortable balancing opportunity with risk in a regulated environment
  • Able to translate substance into narrative without hype

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with or alongside legal AI, legal technology, or professional software platforms.
  • Undergraduate / pre-law degree
  • Familiarity with analyst relations, thought‑leadership programs, or institutional partnerships.
  • Comfort engaging with senior legal leaders, academics, and public‑sector stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the legal influencer narrative aligned to Thomson Reuters broader legal and AI narratives based on the program work led by the strategic influencer program manager (in segment).
  • Define priority influencer segments by practice area, geography, and audience (e.g., law firms, in‑house counsel, judiciary, academia and law schools) based in media interest.

  • Build and maintain long‑term relationships with key legal influencers (prioritizing North America), including legal technologists, practicing lawyers, academics, bar association leaders, and respected commentators.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for influencer engagement with media in the legal space, ensuring consistent coordination and messaging.
  • Curate and manage executive‑level influencer interactions in partnership with Product and Technology Communications & Corporate Communications team.
  • Identify, prepare, and deploy credible customers as spokespeople in media and industry forums, elevating real‑world experience and outcomes to validate Thomson Reuters leadership and reinforce trust through authentic, practitioner‑led storytelling
  • Design and run structured influence programs (e.g., roundtables, briefings, collaborations, events, thought‑leadership initiatives) rather than one‑off engagements.
  • Translate real‑world Thomson Reuters initiatives—such as legal AI pilots, ethics work, or education partnerships—into credible third‑party validation.
  • Support major product and platform moments (e.g., CoCounsel Legal) with appropriate influencer engagement.
  • Partner closely with Product and Technology Communications & Corporate Communications team to ensure alignment with media strategy, messaging discipline, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with Legal Segment Marketing and Product teams to ensure influencer engagement reflects real product capabilities and roadmap priorities.
  • Coordinate with Analyst Relations to reinforce consistent narratives across analyst, influencer, and media audiences.
  • Establish guardrails, engagement protocols, and best practices for influencer relationships in a regulated professional context.
