About The Position

The Tax Manager manages non-income tax and business compliance activities for Luxottica’s retail and wholesale businesses in North America, including sales and use taxes, personal property taxes, unclaimed property reporting, and business licenses. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 5+ plus years of experience in Tax Accounting
  • Experience in audit defense and appeals
  • Supervisory experience
  • Skilled problem solver with ability to identify tax risk issues, add perspective and recommend solutions
  • Ability to effectively communicate key risks and opportunities to management
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with shared service customers
  • Ability to listen and respond to customers’ ideas and concerns
  • Ability to fosters team building and employee engagement
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work to achieve business objectives
  • Focuses on process improvement to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness

Responsibilities

  • Manages compliance with applicable tax laws.
  • Monitors changes in tax laws that impact our business in US and Canada.
  • Implements changes to systems and processes for tax law changes.
  • Identifies solutions to mitigate tax compliance risks.
  • Provides tax advice to business partners on new business initiatives.
  • Oversees the completion and filing of all required filings.
  • Ensures timely and accurate tax filings to the proper jurisdictions.
  • Manages relationships with outside service providers.
  • Ensures timely filing of required business licenses.
  • Manages sales & use tax audits.
  • Manages the audit process from preparation to exit conferences.
  • Leads negotiations with auditors to resolve issues.
  • Manages processes and systems which identify customer tax status.
  • Ensures systems identify customer’s tax status and proper tax rates.
  • Maintains accuracy and reliability of tax system.
  • Monitors tax system configuration including goods and service tax determination rules and nexus settings.
  • Manages accounting and internal controls for non-income tax activities.
