About The Position

Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®. We are currently seeking a Manager of Indirect Sourcing. The Manager of Indirect Sourcing is responsible for partnering with Del Monte’s factories, vendors, planning, and strategic sourcing functions to manage the flow of raw materials at Del Monte and to resolve supply issues. As Manager of Indirect Sourcing (MRO), you will lead a team of regional purchasing specialists for our manufacturing locations to ensure that the company is effectively managing the procurement process and inventory levels. This role will develop and be accountable for the KPIs that proactively ensure Purchase Orders are being effectively managed & master data is up to date. You will work with internal customers as well as third party partners in developing material management strategies, implementing new standardized processes, driving continuous improvement, and generating sustainable cash flow, and cost savings improvements. You will work with internal customers as well as third party partners in developing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, implementing new standardized processes, driving continuous improvement, and generating sustainable cost savings by evaluating and prioritizing projects and process efficiencies that maximize benefits and reduce overall costs. This position will interact with all levels of the organization and is accountable for understanding key business drivers, strategies, and requirements. This position owns the overall direction, execution, and support of sourcing projects under management.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree required. Business or related field preferred.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience working with Indirect spend and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in leading high performing team
  • Experience in the manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of contract fundamentals; demonstrated skills in supplier operational and relationship management.
  • Solid business acumen and strong analytical skills.
  • Aptitude for building strong relationships with cross-functional colleagues.
  • Strong ability to work in cross functional and team-oriented environment with multiple disciplines.
  • Proven capabilities in the area of project management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong experience in SAP and PTP systems.

Nice To Haves

  • APICS or CPSM certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team of MRO Purchasing Specialists, establishing inventory and cost savings goals, and monitoring team performance to achieve these goals.
  • Build and execute comprehensive strategies enabling short and long-term objectives.
  • Managing the negotiation and evaluation of supplier contracts or terms for spend under $100k.
  • Additionally, act as gatekeeper for all Indirect spend less than $100k to ensure policy compliance with stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute effective sourcing and demand management strategies to reduce our Total Cost of Ownership of Capital Equipment/MRO/Facility spend.
  • Assistance and accountability in building budgets.
  • Ownership of budget adherence.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to assess the health of the purchasing process & supply chain.
  • Leads the team to deliver on KPIs
  • Conduct regular reviews with internal and external stakeholders to measure progress and evolve strategies to address changes in the business environment.
  • Identifies & works with corporate procurement to execute favorable inventory agreements.
  • Work with plants & vendors on day-to-day supply issue
  • Management and implementation of an inventory management program (ABC).
  • Ensure vendor-based lead time compliance.
  • Act as liaison to internal customers for sourcing and procurement operations.
  • Establish strong vendor relationships and effectively manage supply base.
  • Work with team to develop results to maintain a high level of data quality to ensure SAP functionality.
  • Ensure master data is cleansed for key attributes by each location. (MOQ/Lead time/ lot size etc)
  • Implement controls and support the organization to close POs on a regular basis.
  • Action upon data and work with team to resolve and redirect – Past due POs, inventory levels etc.
  • Establishing procurement order streams to match supply with demand on a JIT basis.
  • Participate in the development of documentation to further services and growth of department. (Standard Operation Procedures, Playbooks, Training Materials)
  • Work collectively with Supply Planning and Operations to ensure customer orders are properly executed.
  • Develop vendor management cadence and meeting format for spend under management.
  • Be involved in the Supplier Corrective Action process as needed.
  • Working with business owners for Indirect Procurement to establish a sourcing strategy in support of business needs for business segments assigned.
  • Leading the development and management of sourcing plans for Indirect categories assigned to proactively identify sourcing needs and Continuous Improvement opportunities to achieve the overall department’s Continuous Improvement savings targets. (Develop Catalogs, etc.)
  • Working alongside Business Owners to manage the supplier relationships with our strategic partners.
  • Delivers transformational business practices and policy leadership for best-in-class sourcing and risk mitigation.
  • Work to improve PTP systems to optimize spend & improve stakeholder engagement.
  • Continuously drive and implement solutions for standardization and consolidation, leverage opportunities, and procurement process improvements.
  • Monitor the procurement “inbox” for issue resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
