About The Position

The Manager in Training (MIT) Program at The NRP Group is a full-time, salaried leadership development experience designed for recent college graduates. This program aims to build a career in Property Management by learning the business from the ground up and growing into future community leadership roles. Under the direction of Property Management leadership, the MIT is responsible for completing a structured development program focused on operational, financial, leadership, and customer experience skills. The MIT will gain hands-on experience across property operations, working with experienced Community Managers, Regional Property Managers, mentors, and business leaders. The program is structured over 12 months and includes hands-on learning in property operations, leasing, financial management, leadership, customer experience, and asset performance. Participants will have opportunities to work in high-growth markets and contribute to the performance of multifamily communities nationwide. The program also includes mentorship, exposure to senior leaders, and cohort learning with fellow MIT participants. The ultimate goal of the program is to prepare participants for community leadership opportunities within Property Management, with potential progression to roles such as Community Assistant Manager, Community Manager, and beyond.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Residential Property Management, Real Estate, Business, Hospitality, Finance, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior internship, property management, leasing, hospitality, customer service, sales, leadership, or business experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Office; ability to learn property management and business systems.
  • Ability and willingness to relocate based on business needs and program placement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a structured Property Management training curriculum, learning assignments, development activities, and presentations designed to build readiness for future community leadership roles.
  • Review and apply Standard Operating Procedures, property management systems, leasing tools, and site-level processes to understand how high-performing communities operate.
  • Complete a final presentation summarizing program experiences, key learnings, business insights, and development progress.
  • Gain practical experience in property operations, leasing and marketing, resident relations, customer experience, financial management, budgeting, asset performance, and business analytics.
  • Partner with Community Managers and site teams to understand leasing performance, traffic trends, pricing recommendations, renewal strategies, delinquency management, resident communication, and team scheduling.
  • Assist with property-level financial and operational processes, including operating statements, budgets, proformas, management agreements, month-end activities, commissions, bonuses, capital projects, and vendor coordination.
  • Participate in market research, competitive property shops, marketing audits, SWOT analysis, and asset performance discussions to understand property positioning and business strategy.
  • Build leadership capability by shadowing and supporting key property roles, including Leasing Specialist, Community Assistant Manager, Community Manager, Service Manager, and other site-level team members.
  • Develop strong resident relations skills by supporting move-ins, resident follow-up, issue resolution, service coordination, and customer experience initiatives.
  • Participate in inspections, file reviews, recertification or renewal processes, and compliance-related activities as applicable to the assigned community.
  • Engage in cohort learning, mentorship, leadership exposure, and networking opportunities designed to accelerate professional growth and build lasting connections across NRP.
