About The Position

Our Manager in Training (MIT) Program is designed for motivated, service-driven individuals who want a hands-on path into branch leadership while learning from experienced mentors along the way. This isn’t a “sit and watch” program — it’s a real opportunity to learn, lead, and build the skills needed to become a Branch Manager at Northland Area Federal Credit Union. At Northland, our mission is simple and powerful: “To be our members’ most trusted financial partner.” As a Manager in Training, you’ll learn how great leadership, exceptional service, and community involvement all come together inside a successful branch. During the program, you’ll rotate through key areas of branch operations while building confidence, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of what it takes to manage people, performance, and member relationships. You’ll be supported every step of the way by a mentor, with regular coaching, feedback, and development conversations.

Requirements

  • Motivated, curious, and eager to grow
  • Comfortable stepping into leadership situations
  • Passionate about service and helping others succeed
  • Open to coaching, feedback, and continuous learning
  • Associate degree or higher in business or comparable experience
  • Experience in financial services, sales, or leadership
  • Ability to travel locally and hold a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to obtain required trainings and certifications during the program (we’ll support you!)

Responsibilities

  • Learn how a branch runs day-to-day, from processes and compliance to systems and workflow.
  • Discover what outstanding service really looks like and how to build trust-based relationships with members.
  • Grow your leadership style, decision-making skills, and professional confidence.
  • Learn how to motivate, train, and coach teams to achieve their best work.
  • Represent the credit union in the community while learning how branches develop business by growing relationships, deposits, and lending opportunities.
