About The Position

The Manager, Healthcare Quality Data Analytics will manage all aspects of clinical quality data, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, submission, and reporting. This role involves utilizing the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other resources to develop dashboards and scorecards, performing data validation, and preparing data for submission to data warehouses. The position requires interpreting data for senior management to support decision-making and strategic planning, and facilitating collaboration with clinical teams to identify patients, verify criteria, and support improvement initiatives. The role also includes managing clinical care pathways, working with Quality Data and Analytics Teams and Clinical IT Teams, running queries for performance analytics, and using clinical databases for benchmarking and identifying opportunities for improvement. Additionally, the Manager will facilitate reporting of care transformation data, create customized reports and dashboards, assist with data audits, evaluate data merging opportunities, adhere to data definitions, and assist quality team members with data interpretation. Participation in annual meetings, conferences, and completing data abstraction training are also expected. The role involves analyzing physician performance, monitoring quality metrics for process improvement recommendations, preparing briefings and reports, and resolving data integrity issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Management, Nursing, Health Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with databases, data manipulation, data validation, analysis, creating dashboards to track performance.
  • Required experience supporting clinical quality or process improvement initiatives in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Advanced proficiency with creating complex and advanced formulas in Excel and data manipulation.
  • Knowledge of EPIC as well as their respective report writer tools.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality and outcomes measurement and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of cardiovascular related diseases.
  • Experience with clinical database systems and decision support tools including and understanding of medical terminology and clinical coding protocols.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing data.
  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare background and quality improvement experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of USNWR methodology and criteria a plus.
  • Knowledge of Vizient Clinical Data base tool a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of clinical quality data of focus and meet established deadlines, inclusive of data collection, data analysis and interpretation, data submission, daily quality reporting issues, and outcomes report review.
  • Utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and any other appropriate resources to obtain valid, reliable data for developing dashboards and scorecards.
  • Perform data collection, data entry, abstraction, validation, and analysis.
  • Prepare and submit timely quarterly data harvests to appropriate data warehouses.
  • Interpret and translate data for senior management to clearly understand analysis and use it for meaningful decision making, and strategic planning purposes.
  • Assume facilitation role with clinical service line and quality teams to identify and verify patients for inclusion, identify and verify criteria and protocols for inclusion/exclusion, obtain clinical interpretation of data elements, and to support clinical improvement initiatives.
  • Manages entire process of clinical care pathways which includes research, scheduling and attending meetings with multidisciplinary teams, data collection, submission, validation, and audit.
  • Close collaboration with providers, clinicians, and other professionals to ensure compliance with documentation.
  • Work with other team members of Quality Data and Analytics Team and Clinical IT Teams to incorporate clinical data into the Electronic Health Record and develop/ validate reports.
  • Run queries/ analyses from databases for hospital, service lines and physician-level performance analytics.
  • Use clinical databases and national benchmarking to continuously identify opportunities for improved outcomes and cost reductions, and relay findings and recommendations to appropriate decision maker.
  • Facilitate the timely reporting of care transformation data and initiatives to all key stakeholders.
  • Create customized and recurrent reports and dashboards.
  • Assist with development and evaluation of internal and external data audits.
  • Evaluate and analyze opportunities to merge data elements from various electronic medical record sources.
  • Adhere to data definitions as it pertains to specified criteria and specifications.
  • Assist quality team members in developing, reviewing and interpreting data.
  • Participate in annual meetings and conferences.
  • Complete data abstraction training programs.
  • Prepare reports for review with department leaders that analyze physician.
  • Monitor quality performance, outcomes and/or safety metrics to make recommendations for targeted process improvement projects.
  • Prepare briefings and reports.
  • Follow up and follow through on assigned action items for various projects, meetings, and committees.
  • Solve data integrity issues as they arise, and monitor the addition of new data, analytics and reporting systems.
