About The Position

Provide supervision of all aspects of Health Services’ daily operation and to promote and maintain the health for the campus. Tennessee Tech is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Tennessee.
  • Two years of general nursing experience and two years of supervisory, administrative experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of adolescent and adult immunization requirements.
  • Computer skills including the knowledge of EMR systems.
  • Ability to understand and apply the nursing process to direct patient care.
  • Ability to function effectively under the pressure of emergencies.
  • Experience successfully supervising staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to administer injections, intravenous therapy and immunizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
  • Considerable experience supervising staff.
  • Infection prevention control management knowledge.
  • Experience developing healthcare related trainings for professional development of staff and providing general healthcare information to the campus community.

Responsibilities

  • Provides general patient care for TTU students and employees.
  • Provides supervision of clinic support staff including front office support and nursing/medical team in collaboration with the Director of Health Services.
  • Assists with electronic medical records updates including pharmacy changes, lab changes, and template changes within the system.
  • Provides leadership to ensure all Health Services functions are performed effectively; assists Health Services employees with difficult problems and handles internal conflicts.
  • Develops working relationships with other university departments, student groups, other universities, and external health care entities.
  • In absence of the Director, serves as principal spokesperson for the department and its activities.
  • Assists Director in providing leadership to university community in development and implementation of university policy related to student and employee health.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all federal, state, local and university policies and regulations affecting health care services operations and ensures that all relevant laws and regulations are followed.
  • Serves as consultant to Health Services staff members regarding clinical, legal and employee issues.
  • Provides regular performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Assists with maintenance and security of medical records.
  • Presents and assists with administration of various programs related to health education.
  • Maintains clinic inventory to ensure clinic readiness and efficient patient flow.
  • Maintains records of licensure and certifications of all Health Services employees.
  • Preceptor for senior nursing students.
  • Assists with annual budget and grant implementation as necessary.
