About The Position

Frequency and Timing Systems is expanding our business in global timescales, digital signal processing, satellite communications, airborne timing, and navigation systems. Microchip FTS’s Boulder, CO location, is seeking a Manager - Hardware Engineering in our Frequency and Time Systems team. This position is a fit for someone that enjoys technical achievement, cooperative research, never ending chances to learn, and a friendly team environment. You will participate in a wide variety of projects and contribute to all phases of the full design lifecycle, including concept development, design, test and validation, sustainment and next generation planning. Requirements

  • Minimum BSEE and 12.5+ years of combined related industry experience in PCBA hardware design and managing hardware development teams
  • Knowledge of PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes, procedures, and best practices
  • Experience designing with discrete electronic components, FPGA’s, microprocessors, memory devices and logic devices and interfaces
  • Understanding of project management principles
  • US Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

  • PCB Schematic and Layout (PADS and Altium preferred)
  • Familiarity with precise timing applications and components, including oscillators, time measurement circuits, and GPS receivers
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Analog circuit design RF electronics design Signal integrity for high-speed serial interfaces, including design, analysis, and test Power integrity analysis and testing Control systems, including analog control loops – model, design, and test Data acquisition and signal reproduction
  • Experience as Project Manager for multi-disciplinary engineering development projects

Responsibilities

  • Individually contribute on new and existing electronic designs including PCB’s and PCBA’s for Government Systems products
  • Provide technical leadership for cross-functional teams of engineers to develop novel solutions that meet customer needs
  • Mentor engineers in technical and career development
  • Manage team of hardware engineers, assuring timely completion of engineering tasks
  • Collaborate closely with Program and Project Managers to maintain scope, schedule and budget of engineering development projects
  • Partner with the manufacturing operations team on design for manufacturing and test, new product introduction and sustaining engineering
  • Support products through the full product lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, development, test, and sustainment
