About The Position

At Piedmont Airlines, the Manager, Ground Safety Assurance within the Safety Department is a motivated, reliable leader responsible for maintaining and enhancing a comprehensive audit program to support the Ground Handling Department. This involves auditing, tracking, trending, and effectively reporting results to foster a positive Safety Culture. The role includes conducting audits of various functions, particularly ramp and aircraft handling policies and procedures. The practical goal of these processes is to aid decision-making, procedural enhancements, and increase compliance. The successful candidate will have two years of experience as a General Manager or an equivalent airline operations leadership role and will report to the Sr. Manager, Occupational Health Programs and Assurance.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience as General Manager or an equivalent airline operations leadership role
  • In-depth knowledge of airline training requirements, policies, procedures, and general audit processes
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude toward teamwork
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills with ability to manage complex projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Clear driving record
  • 10-year Criminal History Records Check
  • Drug screen
  • Proof of high school or GED completion
  • Minimum 18 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledgeable in all facets of American Airlines/American Eagle operations to include Ramp, Deicing, Ticket Counter, Gates, Baggage Service, Operations, Cargo, and Catering
  • Prior experience and working knowledge of industry regulatory programs, including but not limited to: SMS, SeMS and IOSA
  • Experience with developing and maintaining Tableau resources

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in conducting comprehensive internal audits of ground handling functions to evaluate compliance with regulatory and company standards
  • Own the follow-up process for findings to include appropriate contributing factor analysis, approving effective corrective actions to increase compliance, and validating implementation
  • Track and trend audit results to find areas of opportunity both locally and throughout the organization; champion changes with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Facilitate data analysis and safety assurance groups in conjunction with department leadership
  • Serve as the liaison between Piedmont Ground Handling and the operational manual committees, assisting with revisions to policies and procedures
  • Create and distribute publications for different audiences reviewing the results and trends based on information from the audit program
  • Assist with the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) for Ground (GRH) and Cargo (CGO)
  • Provide support for General Managers and other station leaders across the company
  • Support the American Airlines and Piedmont Emergency Response Programs
  • Actively support the company's Safety Management System (SMS and SeMS) (14 C.F.R. Part 5)
  • Assist in implementing the company’s hearing conservation program and other occupational health programs, as needed
