The Manager, Global Learning provides operational and strategic leadership and is responsible for developing, managing, marketing, and assessing undergraduate Study Abroad and Exchange (SAE) and International Programs, including the Vancouver Summer Program (VSP), the UBC Sauder Social Entrepreneurship (SSE) and LIFT programs, the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM) undergraduate programs, and the undergraduate Dual Degrees. The Manager works closely with other Program Managers to create, implement, manage and evaluate programs and initiatives that increase student engagement and satisfaction and support student success.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of three to four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own
  • Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the design and delivery of education programs is preferred.
  • Experience in advising is required.

  • Proficiency using common office software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic oversight for assigned programs, develops and implements plans to achieve school goals.
  • Designs and implements innovative student programs, including BCom Study Abroad and Exchange (SAE), UBC Vancouver Summer Program (VSP), UBC Sauder Social Entrepreneurship (SSE) and LIFT programs by assessing student needs, and identifying program goals.
  • Develops programming for Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management (Global SCLM), including orientation, pre-departure session, and site visits to industry partners. Collaborates with the Chinese University of Hong Kong in Shenzhen, and the Copenhagen Business School for the program administration.
  • Designs and implements orientation activities and resources for students.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates admissions process for Global SCLM and the UBC BCom International Business options. Makes admissions decisions and approves study plans.
  • Designs, develops, and implements criteria and application process for students participating in SAE. Assesses applications, academic plans, and manages selection process and decisions.
  • Manages delivery of global learning opportunities through the Global Network for Advanced Management, including undergraduate Global Network Weeks.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty members in the development, application and administration of SAE academic policies for outbound and inbound exchange students. Works with faculty members on assessment and articulation of transfer credit.
  • Advises students on global learning activities and program requirements, interprets policies and refers to support services. Maintains knowledge of advising practices by attending/presenting at workshops and conferences.
  • Determines programs suited to students’ academic preparation and degree requirements based on partner policies.
  • Analyses transcripts and international education documents to allocate credits and grade conversions for students who have studied abroad, utilizing developed knowledge of worldwide educational systems, grading practices, courses, and credentials.
  • Creates positive and supportive relationships with representatives from partner institutions, and negotiates, establishes, and maintains exchange balances with partners.
  • Establishes new partnerships that align with UBC and Sauder’s strategic goals on international learning. Renews and maintains institutional partnerships.
  • Assesses student demands and develops innovative student programs, collaborating with other UBC Sauder student service areas and campus resources to enhance student experience.
  • Evaluates program outcomes in fulfilling the school’s international strategic goals, prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for enhancements.
  • Leads the development and evaluation of policies, programs, services and service delivery for all programs, providing data-informed recommendations to enhance program quality and student experience.
  • Develops, manages, and reconciles budgets, and prepares financial reports.
  • In collaboration with the UBC Sauder Marketing and Communications team, develops and implements marketing plans for global learning activities. Designs and delivers presentations, and attends educational fairs to recruit students for programs.
  • Provides backup coverage to other managers, supporting various programs and portfolios.
  • Participates in faculty committees and may represent OSAS, RHL and UBC Sauder on various UBC Sauder and external committees as required.
  • Represents the University and UBC Sauder, both domestically and internationally, at public events, conferences, recruiting fairs and on-site partner university visits, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of programs.
  • Performs other duties within the qualifications and the scope of the role and undertakes special projects assigned by senior leadership.
