About The Position

The Manager, Global IT SOX leads IT Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts by overseeing system-level risk assessments, control evaluations, and audit support activities. This role ensures alignment with financial reporting requirements through comprehensive ITGC assessments and ongoing monitoring of controls. The manager provides leadership and guidance to senior analysts, fosters collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, and drives continuous improvement in control processes. Maintaining accurate documentation and supporting remediation efforts are key responsibilities, all while upholding Walmart’s standards of integrity, ethics, and operational excellence. The Global IT SOX team ensures effective compliance, risk management, and control design across worldwide technology platforms. Collaborating with application, infrastructure, and business stakeholders, the team oversees IT controls for new system implementations and global platforms. Members conduct detailed assessments, monitor control performance, and support audit activities to maintain high standards. The team emphasizes continuous improvement, technical expertise, and strong partnerships to uphold robust IT governance aligned with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements. This collaborative environment fosters accountability and excellence in managing IT controls globally.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in IT Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, including ITGC assessments and control design reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of system-level risk assessments and IT dependencies within SOX scope.
  • Ability to evaluate system documentation and architecture to identify IT risks and control requirements.
  • Experience leading and coaching teams, reviewing work for accuracy and alignment with SOX standards.
  • Skilled in coordinating audit activities and responding to audit requests with complete and timely evidence.
  • Proficient in monitoring ITGC operating effectiveness and tracking remediation progress.
  • Excellent stakeholder collaboration across technology, finance, and assurance functions.
  • Commitment to maintaining technical expertise through ongoing professional development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, information systems, computer science, or related area.
  • 3 years’ experience in public accounting, internal audit, IT audit, or a related industry role supporting SOX and ITGCs
  • Experience supporting ITGC assessments, SOX audits, and control operating effectiveness reviews.
  • Experience in PCAOB standards, SOX requirements, and IT general controls.

Responsibilities

  • Support IT SOX scoping by assisting with system-level risk assessments and identifying IT dependencies in scope.
  • Perform ITGC SOX assessments for new and materially changed systems to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
  • Review IT control strategies, documentation, and architecture to evaluate alignment with baseline controls and risks.
  • Lead complex control design reviews, operating effectiveness assessments, and audit support activities.
  • Track remediation progress and provide status updates to leadership.
  • Maintain comprehensive IT SOX documentation in systems of record.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for Senior Analysts, fostering strong stakeholder relationships.
