About The Position

The Global Communications, Senior Analyst supports the planning, creation, and editing of content that advances UChicago's international engagement and elevates the visibility of UChicago's academic programs and research outside the United States. In coordination with the Director of Global Communications and the Global programming team, this role provides writing, editing, graphic, and production support for UChicago Global's internal and external communications. This role also advises UChicago's Global Centers on communications and helps ensure communications materials are consistent with UChicago Global's goals and aligned with the University's broader communications strategy and standards. This position plans, prepares and disseminates information designed to keep the public informed of the University's perspectives, programs, and accomplishments. Work is performed with a moderate level of guidance, and typically includes marketing, press relations, creative editorial and design services, and internal communications.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in relevant communications, higher education, public relations, media, or related roles.

  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the tools available to UChicago Global and University Communications, including its contact management system.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, relevant social media platforms, AI tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of current communications/design standards and best practices.
  • Update and maintain digital communications tools and platforms such as websites, web applications, and HTML email programs.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, speak, and write effectively.
  • Take initiative and proactively anticipate organizational needs.
  • Exceptional time, project management, and organizational skills, including meet external and internal deadlines.
  • Familiarity with the U.S. and international higher education landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Creates content highlighting the University of Chicago’s international scholarly research, educational initiatives, and partnerships.
  • Develops presentations, website content, briefings, and remarks.
  • Provides content and project management for UChicago Global’s monthly newsletter and annual report.
  • Creates content that supports the Global Centers’ communications strategies.
  • Communications coordination work with UChicago Global and University Communications to identify, develop, and implement international communications initiatives.
  • Supports the University's communications priorities outside the United States, raising visibility of academic programs and research.
  • Ensures all print and digital copy, collateral, and promotional materials align with UChicago Global's goals and the University's broader global communications standards.
  • Manages the UChicago Global website, including regular updates, new features, and implementation of an upgraded website as needed.
  • Maintains UChicago Global’s internal University intranet page.
  • Advises the Global Centers on implementation and execution of their strategic communications plans.
  • Plans, develops, and disseminates information designed to keep the public informed of the organization's programs, accomplishments, or point of view, with moderate levels of guidance and direction.
  • Accomplishes assigned duties through two or more of the following: written communications; visual/graphic media, which may include Web site development and maintenance; speeches and personal contact.
  • The incumbent is still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills.
  • Solves a range of straightforward problems, as work assignments are difficult and broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
