About The Position

MongoDB is seeking a Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to serve as the Finance owner of Pigment, its financial planning platform, in partnership with an IT Product Manager. Following the migration from Workday Adaptive, this role will help make Pigment scalable, well-governed, deeply integrated, and trusted by planning stakeholders throughout the company. The position sits at the intersection of Finance, IT, and the business, translating planning processes into effective system functionality. The role combines hands-on financial modeling and platform administration with project delivery, stakeholder partnership, and communication. It owns improvements to the platform foundation and models, supports planning across corporate forecasting, headcount and workforce planning, consolidation, and allocations, and drives adoption across Finance, Recruiting, HR, and the broader business. The working model is flexible, with fully remote or hybrid work available from MongoDB’s New York City or Austin offices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; finance, business, economics, information systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in FP&A, financial systems, EPM, or finance transformation, with substantial hands-on model-building experience.
  • Hands-on experience building and administering models in Pigment.
  • Strong command of corporate finance concepts, including forecasting, headcount and compensation planning, allocations, and multi-currency consolidation.
  • Strong documentation skills covering requirements, design specifications, and process flows that others can use.
  • Ability to partner with executive finance stakeholders and technical teams and explain complex model logic simply.
  • Curiosity about new technologies and desire to be an early adopter who can bring others along.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to bring structure to complex or unclear situations.
  • Strong project management skills and excellent follow-through across multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Expertise in Excel and the Google Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA.
  • Working knowledge of SQL or scripting.
  • Experience integrating planning tools with source systems such as ERP, HRIS, or a data warehouse, and comfort with data pipelines and flat-file or API-based loads.
  • Pigment Academy certifications (Modeler, Power User, or Admin) or Anaplan certifications.
  • Experience leading a planning-platform migration or implementation.
  • Experience with modern data stack tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Fivetran.
  • Experience using AI tools to automate finance workflows.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Co-own Pigment with an IT Product Manager and serve as the primary point of contact for the Finance team, including managing role-based access and user provisioning.
  • Clarify, detail, and prioritize stakeholder requests for improvements and enhancements using criteria such as business impact, effort, and dependencies; develop a transparent, time-phased roadmap with the IT Product Manager; regularly revisit priorities and communicate trade-offs to stakeholders and finance leadership.
  • Drive Pigment adoption across Finance, Recruiting, HR, and the broader business through training, documentation, office hours, and best-practice guidance; create, align on, and implement an enablement plan.
  • Manage relationships with Pigment and consulting partners, and stay current on platform releases and best practices.
  • Refine and re-architect models created during the initial migration to reduce technical debt, simplify logic, and improve performance and usability.
  • Design, build, and maintain Pigment applications, including blocks, metrics, lists, dimensions, and dependencies, for corporate forecasting, headcount and workforce planning, consolidation, and allocations.
  • Translate requirements from FP&A and functional finance partners into scalable, well-documented models.
  • Evaluate and implement Pigment AI and workflow capabilities, and identify opportunities to automate manual FP&A processes, from lightweight connectivity such as Google Sheets plug-ins to larger workflow improvements.
