Requirements

  • Registered Dietitian (RD); Registered Dietetic Technician (DTR); Certified Dietary Manager (CDM); or Associate degree or higher in food service/restaurant management.
  • Food Protection Manager certification from an ANSI-CFP program (e.g., ServSafe®).
  • Budgeting and financial reporting skills.
  • Labor and schedule management skills.
  • Purchasing and vendor relations skills.
  • Inventory control and proper storage/labeling skills.
  • Sanitation and safety auditing skills.
  • Regulatory knowledge.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Professional, tactful interactions with coworkers, physicians, and patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing food services in a healthcare setting (acute care or skilled nursing) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the department in accordance with company policies, procedures, standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Manage the departmental budget through oversight of operating expenses and labor.
  • Oversee department financials and complete required monthly reporting.
  • Develop and/or supervise staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage within budgeted FTEs.
  • Perform or oversee ordering and receipt of food, supplies, and equipment from approved vendors to maintain adequate stock.
  • Oversee stocking and inventory of food and supplies, ensuring proper storage and labeling.
  • Monitor kitchen quality and safety: conduct routine quality checks, spot-check logs for accuracy, and complete weekly safety/sanitation audits.
  • Collaborates with leadership and interdisciplinary partners to align service levels with patient and facility needs.
  • Maintains documentation to support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
  • Supports staff training, coaching, and competency in safe food handling and departmental procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
