About The Position

The Manager, Fleet Services and Investment Recovery will oversee the management, maintenance, utilization, and disposition of the company's vehicle fleet and related surplus assets. This role will support the organization's operational needs through effective team leadership, fleet service coordination, investment recovery practices, and vendor management. This individual will be responsible for ensuring fleet availability, safety, compliance, and cost-effective performance while also maximizing recovery value from retired vehicles, surplus equipment, obsolete materials, parts, and other underutilized assets.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain, operations, finance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum of eight years of experience in fleet management, asset recovery, operations, supply chain, procurement, or a related function.
At least three years of supervisory or leadership experience leading teams, vendors, budgets, or operational programs.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to work in an office environment as well as field locations, including vehicle maintenance facilities, yards, warehouses, and vendor sites.
Ability to conduct vehicle and asset inspections, which may involve bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
Occasional travel to company locations, auction sites, storage yards, and vendor facilities may be required.

Nice To Haves

Experience managing distributed fleets or multi-site asset recovery programs
Background in utilities, construction, manufacturing, transportation, energy, government, or field service operations.
Strong knowledge of fleet management practices, vehicle maintenance, regulatory compliance, asset lifecycle management, and cost control.
Knowledge of fleet management systems, asset management tools, reporting platforms, telematics, or ERP systems.
Working knowledge of surplus sales, auctions, salvage, recycling, lease returns, or other investment recovery channels.
Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Familiarity with auction platforms, salvage processes, recycling programs, surplus sales, and asset disposition controls.
Certifications such as CAFM, CPFP, CPSM, PMP, or related credentials.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive fleet strategy that optimizes vehicle utilization, lifecycle management, cost efficiency, safety, and operational readiness while supporting the organization’s long-term growth.
Develop and execute investment recovery processes for surplus, retired, obsolete, or underutilized vehicles, equipment, materials, parts, and other company assets.
Oversee day-to-day fleet services operations, ensuring vehicles and equipment are available, maintained, and operating efficiently to support business needs.
Manage fleet maintenance, repairs, inspections, fuel programs, warranties, recalls, registrations, titles, tags, and related compliance documentation.
Coordinate vehicle acquisition, specification, utilization, replacement planning, lease returns, and end-of-life disposal activities.
Identify, evaluate, and prepare assets for resale, auction, recycling, donation, salvage, redeployment, or disposal in accordance with company policy.
Work with operations, procurement, finance, legal, safety, risk, environmental, and supply chain teams to support fleet and asset recovery objectives.
Manage relationships with maintenance vendors, leasing companies, fuel providers, auction partners, recyclers, salvage providers, and other service partners.
Negotiate service agreements and vendor arrangements to support cost-effective fleet operations and strong recovery value.
Monitor fleet and investment recovery performance metrics, including utilization, downtime, maintenance cost, fuel efficiency, resale proceeds, and disposal cycle time.
Develop and manage operating budgets, track fleet and recovery expenses, and identify opportunities for savings and process improvement.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local fleet, safety, environmental, transportation, insurance, and records requirements.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for fleet assets, maintenance histories, compliance activity, asset disposition, sale proceeds, and supporting documentation.
Lead, coach, and support the Fleet Services and Investment Recovery team, promoting safety, accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement.
