About The Position

Campbell Oil Company's Financial Services team is seeking an experienced manager to oversee accounts receivable in a manner that increases the customer’s purchasing power, optimizes the partner’s cash flow and maximizes the company’s sales opportunities. The Manager, Financial Services will be a key leader in hiring, developing and retaining talented employees to create a center of excellence for the invoice-to-cash lifecycle. The Manager will lead a team that develops, recommends and implements best practices as it relates to the underwriting, accounts receivable management and customer engagement. The individual will maintain strong internal controls and compliance with Campbell’s guidelines and procedures in addition to commercial credit laws. The individual will possess strong financial analysis skills and utilize their experience to drive productivity and results by implementing innovative solutions that benefit the partner and Campbell. The ideal candidate must demonstrate effective leadership skills and the ability to coach and mentor three to seven direct reports to drive performance in partner relationships and account management. This highly motivated individual must be able to implement change and have a positive impact on the team. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous and demanding environment is critical to success in this role. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter with extensive knowledge of the invoice-to-cash process; have a proven record of delivering results; demonstrate strong relationship and strategic influencing skills; be experienced in change management; and exhibit a passion for improving the customer experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or 7 to 10 years relevant work experience within credit and financial management disciplines
  • Experience in credit, financial analysis, collections, cash applications, customer servicing and talent development
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • In-depth understanding of business management environment, financial statement analysis, accounting conventions and industry-specific financial standards and trends
  • Strong management, coaching and motivational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to relate well to all levels of management
  • Strong problem solving, decision-making and timely follow-up skills with demonstrated abilities to work well within defined time constraints
  • Demonstrated leadership and professionalism with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to eagerly adapt to change and assist the team in managing change
  • Proficiency in computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Excel, Word) and the ability to learn an enterprise resource planning (ERP) application
  • Comprehensive understanding in aspects of commercial law including negotiable instruments, bankruptcy law, legal procedures and the Uniform Commercial Code requirements

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage a portfolio of partner accounts by building positive relationships with Campbell partners and the company’s internal departments while keeping past dues percentage at acceptable levels.
  • Provide direction, coaching and development to FS team members through daily interaction on business issues to determine and implement appropriate account resolution with regard to underwriting, collections and/or recovery decisions while ensuring consistency and adherence to FS and corporate guidelines and procedures.
  • Analyze creditworthiness of partners to determine acceptable levels of risk.
  • Underwrite and approve aggregate credit extension within approval authority and provide recommendations to the appropriate authority for underwritings beyond assigned approval authority level.
  • Monitor and approve pending orders within predetermined time periods and underwriting authority and ensure that the orders comply with agreed terms of sale.
  • Understand partners’ financing needs and leverage resources available from Campbell and third-party financial vendors to augment underwriting in excess of the partner’s approved trade credit limit.
  • Work in partnership with sales, marketing, business development and operations to develop partner management strategies, resolve business matters and discuss partner account status.
  • Ensure a high degree of accuracy, consistency, confidentiality and timeliness when analyzing financial statements, completing underwriting documentation and completing FS forms.
  • Develop and update corporate credit policies and procedures.
  • Prepare periodic reports of accounts receivable performance and significant underwriting and/or past dues exposures.
  • Forecast bad debt reserves that accurately reflect high-risk customers.
  • Participate in the development of FS financial tools, including but not limited to, areas involving financial analysis, benchmarking, alternative financing solutions, expanding partners’ purchasing power, optimizing partners’ cash flow and increasing the overall efficiency of the department.
  • Compile and evaluate data for credit/financial benchmarking, credit/financial risk score and constant reporting.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, innovation and excellence both within the company and FS team.
  • Manage and control Campbell’s operating expenses to conform to annual allocation (e.g., personnel cost, equipment purchases, travel expenses).
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
