Job Overview: The Manager, Finance Shared Services, oversees the delivery of centralized finance operational support to IRC local offices through the Finance Shared Services model. This position supervises Shared Services finance staff and is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent completion of assigned finance operational tasks, including accounts payable processing, donor invoicing support, reconciliations, budget uploads, and other routine financial activities. The role works closely with HQ Finance and local office leadership to support efficient and standardized finance operations across offices. The Manager serves as the primary coordination point for finance operational requests from local offices. This position is responsible for receiving, prioritizing, and assigning requests to Financial Analysts, Finance Shared Services, ensuring workloads are appropriately distributed and completed in accordance with IRC financial policies and timelines. The Manager also monitors task completion, provides technical guidance to staff, and supports continuous improvement of shared services processes to ensure high-quality financial support to field offices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or financial operations.
  • Experience supervising staff or coordinating team workflows required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial operations processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate workloads across team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to review financial transactions for accuracy and proper coding.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with finance and non-finance staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting systems required.
  • Hybrid position; candidate must be located within commuting distance of an IRC local office.
  • Ability to collaborate with both local office staff and HQ finance teams in a shared services environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting grant or project-based financial management preferred.
  • Experience working in nonprofit organizations and/or donor-funded environments strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Shared Services Team Management Supervise and support Financial Analyst(s), Finance Shared Services, including assigning tasks, monitoring workloads, and providing guidance on financial processes and coding compliance.
  • Request Intake & Workflow Coordination Serve as the primary point of contact for finance operational requests from local offices, prioritizing and distributing tasks to Shared Services staff and monitoring timely completion.
  • Finance Operations Oversight Oversee shared services activities, including accounts payable processing, donor invoicing support, reconciliations, month-end close tasks, and budget uploads. Review completed work to ensure accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with IRC financial policies and donor requirements.
  • Budget & Financial Systems Oversight Oversee the review and upload of grant and program budgets into financial systems to ensure coding accuracy and alignment with approved grant agreements.
  • Cost Allocation Management Manage shared services cost allocations to local offices utilizing the service, ensuring costs are tracked, documented, and appropriately charged.
  • Training & Coordination Coordinate or provide training to Shared Services staff and local office personnel on financial processes, systems, and shared services procedures.
  • Process Improvement Support the development and implementation of standardized processes to improve efficiency and consistency of shared services support.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support finance operations and the Shared Services function.
