Requirements

  • University degree in business, accounting, or equivalent
  • CPA designation required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing financial information, processes, and reporting within a complex organizational environment
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and team development
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) and auditing standards, an asset
  • Experience with process and internal controls improvements, an asset
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics GP and Power BI, an asset

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to the Finance team
  • Plan and organize departmental workload and use management skills to effectively and efficiently prioritize and manage competing deliverables
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations by resolving any issues impacting cashflow, customer accounts or system performance
  • Lead in the preparation and support of quarterly forecast and annual Budget process for a $40M administrative budget across seven divisions
  • Lead monthly variance analysis and collaborate with divisional leaders to identify root causes, assess future impacts, and provide insight to management.
  • Develop accounting policies and models through the research, interpretation and implementation of accounting standards
  • Document and maintain procedures and accounting conclusions for all transactional processes in accordance with program agreements and legislation and accounting requirements
  • Provide technical accounting and subject matter expertise to Finance and Agricorp, as required
  • Initiate change based on experience, expertise and knowledge of industry-leading practices and trends
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making across the organization.
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to the Controller and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on all finance-related matters
  • Represent Finance and lead cross-functional initiatives and projects that support organizational priorities.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships across Agricorp and with external partners, including the Senior Management Team, leaders, and employees at all levels of the organization.
